Douglas Lima Expects an Exciting Fight With Paul Daley at UFC 158
MMAjunkie recently spoke to Bellator MMA fighter Douglas Lima on his upcoming Bellator 158 bout with Paul Daley. Below are some highlights.
Lima on his loss to Andrey Koreshkov: “I know how I was before I fought Andrey Koreshkov. I really needed to fight. I’d been idle for some time. I think I’ve had three or four surgeries. But it doesn’t matter. I fought because I needed the money. If it had been today, I wouldn’t have fought in that state. But I showed up and did what I could. I gave my best, so I have no regrets. I took a great risk. He came at me very well and won.”
On fighting Daley: “It’s going to be a very exciting fight. I promise much violence. We’ll exchange fire. I’m ready for striking, wrestling or the ground. Whatever happens, I’ll be ready. I never underestimate my opponents, but I’m very confident. I promise an exciting fight. ”
Lima on being 100 percent healthy again: “Thankfully now I’m 100 percent. I’m training hard, doing all the things I couldn’t do before. I can wrestle and kick now. Now, I’m concentrating on my next fight. After that, I’m going after the Russian. I want my belt back. What’s past is past. Now I’m focused on the present. I didn’t want to lose, especially since I was on a great win streak. But it’s part of the game. It was a choice I made, so I can’t keep beating myself up over it. So now I’m off to the next.”
