September 12, 2016 | Posted by Larry Csonka

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Drew Dober (17-7 MMA, 3-3 UFC) spoke about the low blow he gave Jason Gonzalez (10-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) just before he won the fight by second round knockout. The lightweight fight was on the preliminary card for UFC 203, which aired on FOX Sports 1. Here are highlights:

On the low blow: “I just went out there trying to have fun and unfortunately kicked him in the cup. But I saw an opportunity when I hit him with a nice punch. I bit down on my mouthpiece and started throwing.”

On his wife dealing with his fights: “My poor wife. Unfortunately, she had to stress out with a brother-in-law fighting and this weekend with me fighting. Bless her heart, yesterday was her birthday – the anniversary of her 29th birthday and she got to take care of me as I was cutting weight. … I’m the lucky one.”
