As previously reported, Ryan Bader knocked out former Pride FC heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko in the first round of their Heavyweight Grand Prix tournament final bout at Bellator 214 last night. The official Instagram has now released a health update for Fedor following the loss. You can see the Instagram post below.

Emelianenko appears to be in good spirits after the loss, and he offered an update on his cut following the loss. He stated the following:

“After the fight, I feel good, the dissection over the eye is not deep, yesterday I had several stitches. I think it will heal in a couple of weeks. I want to say thanks to everyone who helped me get ready, who came to the fight, and who got up early to watch the match. Thank you all for your support and your prayers. All the will of God.”

Fedor is now 2-2 under the Bellator MMA banner. At 42 years old, he went into the Bader fight with a two-fight winning streak, having beaten Frank Mir and Chael Sonnen in previous tournament fights before dropping the final to Bader.
