Former UFC Champion Vitor Belfort Signs With ONE Championship

ONE Championship has picked up another big name in Vitor Belfort. The company announced the signing of the UFC alum on Thursday. Belfort’s signing comes after he said in December that he was in talks for a return to active competition after a semi-retirement for most of last year.

“It is with great pleasure and honor that I welcome Vitor Belfort into the ONE Championship family,” ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong (per MMAjunkie). “Vitor is hands down, one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts. He is a legend across the world, and we are thrilled to have him as ONE expands into South America. A World Champion in multiple weight divisions, Vitor is a massive addition to our ever-growing roster of ONE Championship elite athletes. I cannot wait to see his explosive power and his exciting knockout finishes inside the ONE cage.”

Terms of the former UFC Champion’s new contract were not revealed and a date, location and potential opponent for his first ONE Championship fight have yet to be announced.
