Frank Shamrock Apologizes For Abandoning Dog, Says ‘There Was No Way Out of It’

As reported yesterday, Frank Shamrock is under investigation for abandoning his mother’s dog at Dallas Love Field Airport. Shamrock allegedly left the dog tied up to the bed of a pickup truck for 5 days.

In an interview with TMZ, a tearful Shamrock apologized for what he did.

“I know what I did was wrong, but there was no way out of it.”

He said his mother is sick and when he visited her in Texas earlier this month, he realized she could no longer take care of her dog. He claims he tried to find a home for the dog, but couldn’t.

“I called everybody in Dallas, I tried everything humanly possible to get care for the dog, to let people know that we could not take the dog.”

He said he looked for a new home for the dog all the way up until a few minutes before he had to board a flight back home. That’s when he decided to tie the dog up with food and water and call security and ask that they pick her up. Security never found her though and police officers eventually rescued her five days later.

Shamrock said he can’t believe security didn’t find her.

“The dog stayed there for five days. I can’t believe that,” Shamrock said. “That wasn’t what I was intending. I thought they would come get it.”

The Dallas Police Department is expected to charge Shamrock with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals soon.

The dog is now being watched by the SPCA of Texas who say she is doing fine and will be put up for adoption in a few days.
