Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington Off UFC 243

– The women’s bantamweight bout between Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington is off UFC 243 due to an injury sustained by Holm.
Holm said about the injury (via Instagram), “I have been injured and I cannot fight in Australia. The ligament or the tendon that attaches my hamstring to my bone, I tore 30-percent of it this last week in training. The good news is I don’t need surgery, but one week is just not enough time to be ready to fight.”
A replacement for Pennington was not found in time and the bout has bee completely removed from the card.
UFC 243 will proceed with 11 fights and be headlined by the UFC middleweight unification bout between champion Robert Whittaker and interim titleholder Israel Adesanya.
