Jake Ellenberger Discusses a Possible Fight With Jorge Masvidal
– Jake Ellenberger recently spoke with mmajunkie.com, here are the highlights…
On a Possible Fight With Jorge Masvidal: “He’s tough. He’s got some skills. I liked his fight, too. It was a fun fight to watch. I’m in. No problem.”
On His Camp and Fixing Problems: “In this camp, we were real structured,” Ellenberger said. “There was no missing workouts. But every fight is so unique in its own way. Everybody moves differently, and the problem is making decisions on the fly. I wouldn’t say there’s doubt. If you reverse engineer things, I can sense where I don’t want to be. There’s certain positions you’ve got to stay out of, by all means, whatever that’s going to take. Like, you’ve got to start jogging around in a circle. You’ve got to keep him out of his rhythm.”
On Having to Ask For One Last Shot: “I’ve been fortunate enough to have a good relationship with (UFC President) Dana (White),” he said. “When I met with him, I just wanted to talk to him, and of course, he was receptive to that. He respectfully told me what he and the team and Joe Silva were thinking, and it wasn’t sitting well with me with how things are going. (I asked), ‘Can you give me a shot?’ I, of course, didn’t care who it was; I just wanted to get another opportunity. And fortunately they gave me another opportunity, and here we are.”
