Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of Noche UFC 4, or UFC Fight Night: Silva vs. Delgado if you prefer, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. The Noche event is becoming a consistent yearly thing for the UFC, though this year they haven’t quite put the effort into it as prior years. That said some of that isn’t their fault as the original main event of Jean Silva vs. Yair Rodriguez was a tad more relevant to the featherweight division, but Rodriguez is just unreliable at this point. Fortunately his replacement, Jose Delgado, is an exciting fighter and could spring an upset. We’ve also got Brandon Moreno looking to halt his skid, guaranteed fireworks between Tommy McMillen and Marwan Rahiki, a possible number one contender bout at women’s flyweight with Manon Fiorot taking on former champion Alexa Grasso, and the bantamweight debut of veteran Dan Ige. As for the prelims Edgar Chairez vs. Tim Elliott should be fun, Ignacio Bahamondes moves up to welterweight, Yousri Belgaroui looks to continue his unbeaten UFC run, and Thomas Gantt takes a big step up in class against Drakkar Klose. So while the promotional element has been a bit lackluster for this, Dana White seems more focused on the boxing bout between Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn later tonight, there’s definite potential in the card. Now let’s just hope the action lives up to that promise.
Noche UFC 4 comes to the world from the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, USA. Brendan Fitzgerald, Daniel Cormier, and Dominick Cruz will be on commentary with Bruce Buffer handling announcing duties and Charly Arnolt as the roving reporter. We’ll be in the usual 30 foot cage and should be under the newest set of rules.
JJ Aldrich has been with the UFC since 2016 and has largely wound up in the position of gatekeeper, she’s now trying to defend her ranking and extend her two fight winning streak. Regina Tarin is undefeated including her UFC debut earlier this year, she’s taking a pretty serious step up in class to the veteran Aldrich but a win could set her on her way as a notable prospect in the division. The odds are with Aldrich at -280 to a +230 comeback on Tarin.

Rafa Garcia has gone 7-4 in the UFC and is on a three fight winning streak, now he’s looking to start the move towards being a contender and maybe get a shot at a bigger name for his next fight. Rongzhu is also on a three fight winning streak, if he can get to four in a row it could well be him that gets the step up in class. Drakkar Klose has gone 5-1 in his last six fights with the only loss coming to Joel Alvarez, and about a little over a year ago he bested Edson Barboza. Klose is looking to build another winning streak and take maybe his last crack at pushing up the ranks. Tommy Gantt is undefeated including his UFC debut back in May, he was a fairly successful amateur wrestler which has led to him being regarded as quite the prospect in MMA. Gantt is taking a big step up in class here, but a win would be quite the springboard for him to start taking on bigger names. It’s a little surprising to see Gantt as a big -400 favorite while that +310 on Klose has to be drawing some attention.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Tommy Gantt via Submission, reverse triangle choke and elbows, at 2:46 of Round 3
The Final Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Gantt for his work. Mic time for Gantt, he got in Klose’s face after the fight so he’s getting booed a bit. He apologizes for that behavior on the mic and says Klose talked too much to him at the weigh ins, then gives himself about a “C” grade and puts over Klose as a good fighter. Asked about the future he needs to figure that out but he was supposed to fight Trey Ogden in May and would still like to get that fight. I think you could aim a little higher now buddy after that dominant performance and finish.
Tommy Gnatt LOCKS IN the triangle and stays undefeated 🔥

Tim Elliott is a certified veteran of the game at this point but his UFC record is a mixed bag at 10-12, though he did formerly fight for the flyweight title. Despite being a little long in the tooth Elliott is trying to avoid another losing streak and maybe get another shot at ranked opponents. Edgar Chairez has only lost to Joshua Van and Tatsuro Taira since coming to the UFC, he’s also on a three fight winning streak and a win here would be maybe his most quality one which should set him up to take aim at ranked opponents going forward. Chairez is the favorite at -205 to Elliott’s +170.

David Martinez is on a 10 fight winning streak including three wins in the UFC which have seen him climb the rankings, now he’s getting another UFC veteran but if he can emerge victorious then he should be well positioned to call out a big name. Dan Ige has gone just 1-4 in his last five fights, he’s been with the UFC since 2018 though and now he’s hoping a move down to bantamweight will breathe some life back into his career. Waldo Cortes-Acosta has gone 10-3 in the UFC but he’s always seemed to face key setbacks, including most recently when he had almost nothing to offer Alexander Volkov en route to losing a decision. Now he’s trying to avoid his first losing streak and likely resume calling for a title shot if he gets the win. Curtis Blaydes has been with the UFC for over 10 years at this point and while he’s been a perennial ranked fighter during that time he’s also never quite been able to take the final step into true title contention. Blaydes now tries to avoid what would be his first losing streak as he’s coming off of the loss in that wild brawl with Josh Hokit from April. Somewhat close fight, -190 on Cortes-Acosta to +160 for Blaydes.

Manon Fiorot has gone 8-1 in the UFC with her lone loss being a close fight for the title with Valentina Shevchenko, most recently she bulldozed Jasmine Jasudavicius in less than 80 seconds to get herself back into the title picture. Given the status of the title in this division Fiorot is trying to get a second crack at it with another win here, which would be her second win over a former champion. Alexa Grasso had a really rough stretch of fights going for a while, she won the flyweight title then fought to a draw with Shevchenko in her first defense that she really should have lost then did lose proper in their third fight. She followed that up with a loss to Natalia Silva and things were looking a little dire for her, then back in March she scored one of the most impressive finishes all year when she knocked out Maycee Barber then locked up a choke before the ref even got over to stop the fight. Grasso is now trying to get another shot at the gold if she can take out a top contender like Fiorot. The odds are with Fiorot at -280 against Grasso’s +230.

Brandon Moreno is a former two time flyweight champion but at this point there’s a bit of an open question about how shop worn he’s become. Moreno is just 2-4 in his last six fights including being on a two fight losing streak to Tatsuro Taira and Lone’er Kavanagh, now he’s trying to defend his ranking and a loss here would be quite bad for his career prospects. Joseph Morales is in his second UFC stint, he’s on a seven fight winning streak with his two wins since returning to the UFC being submission wins. Now Morales is getting a big step up in class but a win over a name like Moreno would be the biggest win of his career by a wide margin. This one closed as a -110 pick ’em.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Brandon Moreno via split decision (28-29, 30-27 x2)
Normally you don’t like those kinds of splits but the first two were super close so I’m understanding. Post match Moreno gets an interview, he thinks the judging was weird but he won and gets to celebrate with his people. He plays a bit more with the crowd and puts over his team. He got the fight he was expecting then says he wants to fight next month, which seems quite ambitious.
Jean Silva has gone 6-1 in the UFC with his only loss coming to Diego Lopes, most recently he bested Arnold Allen while showing some fine form and now he’s looking to move closer to title contention with another winning streak. Jose Miguel Delgado has gone 4-1 in the UFC with that loss coming to Nathaniel Wood, Delgado is replacing Yair Rodriguez here but a win would be the highest profile of his career and extend his current winning streak to three.
