Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC Fight Night: Gamrot vs. Salkilld, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. We’re back in the warehouse tonight and definitely have warehouse fights for the occasion. In general the events between UFC 329 and UFC 330 have been pretty weak. Last week we got a lot of finishes, which can be fun but that happened because a lot of mismatches were booked and frankly I don’t want regional level fights under the UFC banner. As for tonight we’ve got a quite good main event at least, longtime contender Mateusz Gamrot is trying to defend his spot against the rising young talent of Quillan Salkilld. Beyond that we’ve got two old battlers in the co-main event with Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Billy Quarantillo, Darren Elkins is retiring after his fight with Yadier del Valle, and Alexia Thainara steps in to replace Denise Gomes against Amanda Lemos. None of that is super compelling but the prelims are kind of a wasteland of interest. So while there’s not much to get excited about on paper let’s hope the action delivers.

UFC Fight Night: Gamrot vs. Salkilld comes to the world from the Meta Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. We’ve got a rare two man booth on commentary of Dan Hellie and Daniel Cormier, and frankly if you’ve only got a two man booth Cormier is one of the very last people I’d want in there. Charly Arnolt will handle roving reporter duties while Bruce Buffer is the announcer. We’ll be in the smaller 25 foot cage because of the warehouse but Nevada does use the new rules.

Gigi Canuto brings a three fight winning streak into her UFC debut, her entire career has been under the LFA banner which remains a reputable promotion at least. Now she’s trying to make the most of her only chance at a first impression, she’s here after losing on this season of TUF which is still airing. Carol Foro brings a seven fight winning streak into her UFC debut, she’s coming off of a Contender Series win but that was almost a year ago and now she’s finally getting to her actual UFC debut. Despite the layoff the odds like Foro at -225 to Canuto’s +185.

Miles Johns has gone 6-5 with 1 No Contest in the UFC, he’s currently on a three fight losing streak and really needs to find his first win since 2024 here. Gianni Vazquez took this fight during fight week, but now he’s got the chance to start his second UFC stint by finding that first UFC win. Somewhat close here, -200 on Johns to while +165 on Vazquez shows him a fair amount of respect.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Manoel Sousa via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

Sousa gets an interview along with the translator, he says he feels great and gives glory to God then calls out Drew Dober. Not a bad call out. He knew the fight would be tough, and would have liked to get a finish but this fight came together pretty quickly so he couldn’t prep extensively.

Jose Montanha brings a three fight winning streak into his UFC debut, there’s a lot of that on the prelims for this event, he’s also ending a near year long layoff and looking to get his UFC career started with a win. Bruno Lopes has gone 1-2 in the UFC as well, though in his case he’s riding a two fight losing streak and is looking to get his UFC record back to the .500 mark. Nurgozhay is the favorite at -160 while +135 on Lopes has to tempt a few bettors given how unreliable Nurgozhay has been in the UFC.

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Nurgozhay for his work. Mic time for Nurgozhay and a translator, he plays a bit with the crowd and sends love back to Kazakhstan then says his first couple of fights shouldn’t really count and this is more of what he’s capable of. He talks us through the finish then puts over his team to close.

Steven Asplund has gone 1-1 in the UFC, he’s coming off of a loss though and is now trying to avoid his first losing streak. SCORECARD: 10-9 Asplund, 29-28 Asplund overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Steven Asplund via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

Mic time for Asplund though we’re a tad short on time, he worked hard for this fight and puts over Pat as an opponent. He’s ready for all the fat asses at heavyweight, then puts over his team. He knew the pressure and pace was important here, his cardio is one of the best assets but then admits he had to deal with taking some hard punches. To close he says everything about fighting gets harder, and puts over the crowd.

Ty Miller is undefeated including his UFC debut at the start of the year, he’s looking to remain perfect as well as establishing himself as a prospect. Billy Ray Goff has gone 1-2 in the UFC but he’s on a two fight losing streak and is looking to halt that particular skid. The odds really like Miller at -400 to Goff’s +310 comeback.

Miller gets back to pressure and lands a right hand, Goff is punched to the fence with that and the ref basically jumps in as Miller follows up with a combination. That was unnecessary, Goff’s corner should be ashamed of themselves.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Ty Miller via TKO, punches, at :15 of Round 3

The Final Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Miller for his work, and is disgusted by the lengths the First Round Finish Club went to last week to keep them out of Serbia. Mic time for Miller, he was ready for the takedowns and overhand rights then with enough time he’d find the timing and get the finish. He didn’t think Goff would come out for the third round but he kept himself centered and got ready for the fight continuing. He talks us through the finish, puts over his team, then says he just wants bonuses instead of names. Well that always makes you less likely to get one but we’ll see how the last fights play out.

Amanda Lemos has a UFC record of 9-6 including a failed title fight, she’s just 1-3 in her last four fights though as is on a two fight losing streak. At age 39 Lemos really needs to halt this skid if she wants to remain a relevant player at the top of the division. Alexia Thainara is on a 12 fight winning streak including three UFC wins, she’s getting a step up in terms of name value at least here but a win would push her closer to the title picture. Thainara is the favorite at -260 to a +210 comeback on Lemos.

Mic time for Thainara and the translator, she plays with the crowd in English a bit. She knew the fight would be tough and puts over Lemos but she’s always ready to deliver a performance in here. She puts over her team then asks for a bonus to close.

Darren Elkins has been around the UFC for a surprisingly long time and has a handful of records to his name, but he’s taken an inadvisable amount of abuse during that time and has decided this will be his retirement fight. Mic time for Ferreira, he feels amazing and thanks God and his family. He’s 42 years old and really just wants to make sure his family can see what hard work can do for you. It is hard to do this at 42 but his team had his back. He was ready for everything in this fight and puts over his team for helping him do this. Asked about the future he would like to fight King Green or Jim Miller next. Both very reasonable names. He also wants to be in the UFC video game.

Mateusz Gamrot has been one of the top lightweights in the world for a few years now but has never quite been able to force his way into the title picture. If Gamrot ever wants to get to the title level he needs a win here, then probably another one after that if we’re being realistic. Quillan Salkilld is on a 12 fight winning streak including five UFC wins, he’s getting a pretty hefty step up in class here though. A win for Salkilld would push him into the top 10 and would pretty much solidify his move from prospect to contender. Salkilld closed as the favorite at -145 to Gamrot’s +120.

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Salkilld for his work. Mic time for Salkilld, he feels good and proved he’s the real deal then warns the top five that he’s a problem for them. He is happy to fight anywhere and can get you from any position. He talks us through the finish, then when asked about the future he’ll fight anyone around the top five rankings.

That same episode will also look ahead to UFC 330 next week with two title fights, Islam Makhachev trying to break Anderson Silva’s consecutive win record against Ian Machado Garry as well as Mackenzie Dern defending the strawweight title against Gillian Robertson. I’ll be back for that event next week and I hope you will as well. Until then thank you for reading, stay safe out there and keep checking 411mania for all of your pop culture needs.
