Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC Fight Night: Hernandez vs. Rodriguez, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. The UFC is in Sacramento for the first time in 7 years and the last main event here was Germaine de Randamie vs. Aspen Ladd, I tend to think this main event of Anthony Hernandez vs. Gregory Rodrigues is a little better overall. Hernandez is coming off of a stoppage loss to Sean Strickland while Rodrigues is getting his second chance at moving up in class towards the title picture so the fight is quite relevant. The co-main event is less interesting, Vitor Petrino is getting a pretty good spot on the card as the UFC are trying to push him against the ranked Sergehei Spivac. The next fight is actually much more interesting as Reinier de Ridder returns to light heavyweight and takes on Roman Dolidze. Beyond that we’ve got Mason Jones vs. MarQuel Mederos, Lerryan Douglas vs. Jamall Emmers, and Nasrat Haqparast vs. Chris Padilla that all look pretty good. There’s three heavyweight fights, which is about two too many as a general rule, and a few debutantes but all in all for a Fight Night on the road we’re doing OK on paper. Now let’s hope the action delivers.

UFC Fight Night: Hernandez vs. Rodrigues comes to the world from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, USA. We’ve got Brendan Fitzgerald, Michael Bisping, and Dominick Cruz on commentary so you know you’ll never get a moment of quiet with Bisping on the mic. Joe Martinez will be doing the announcing with Megan Olivi as the roving reporter. We’ll be in the usual 30 foot cage and I’m pretty sure under the newer rules but I’ll update you if anything new comes up in that respect.

Shanelle Dyer scored a win in her UFC debut earlier this year, now she’s back in action and looking to build her first UFC winning streak. Elise Reed has traded wins and losses while going 4-5 in the UFC, she’s coming off of a loss and is trying to avoid her first losing streak. The odds are heavily with Dyer at -800 to +550 on Reed.

Strawweight Bout: Shanelle Dyer (7-1, 116 lbs.) vs. Elise Reed (8-5, 115 lbs.)

ROUND THREE: Reed looked about ready to give it up on the stool, her coach probably could have stopped this one but it’s MMA so of course not. Dyer gets back on pressure and lands a right hand. They clinch up but Dyer is physically stronger and more technically adept there, she spins free and lands a high kick. Right hand from Dyer. Bit of a calf kick from Reed. Dyer backs Reed to the fence again but can’t quite find a high kick. Combination from Dyer, she looks to really unload as Reed is against the fence. The ref could stop this, and finally does.

The Final Round Finish Club thanks Ms. Dyer for her work. Mic time for Dyer, she puts herself over and says the UFC want knockouts so that’s what she delivers.

Very methodical work from McVey, nothing is being overthrown and he’s staying consistent with his pace. Bit of a left hand from McVey. Schultz lands a right hand. McVey hits the body a couple of times then lands a jab. Intercepting knee from McVey folds Schultz like a lawn chair and that’ll get the stoppage as he slumps to the mat.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Jackson McVey via TKO, knee and hammer fists, at 4:13 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. McVey for his work. Mic time for McVey, he was expecting distance closing from Schultz and he was well prepared for knees to intercept. He brings up that Schultz was the first man to beat him in MMA years ago and it feels good to get that one back.

Gauge Young has gone 2-1 in the UFC but he is on a two fight winning streak and if he can get to three in a row it would pretty solidly confirm his status as a rising prospect. Stan Dorsainvil is undefeated coming into his UFC debut and is looking to remain that way when the dust settles after this fight. Dorsainvil did take this on somewhat short notice, so keep that in mind. Young is the -170 favorite to +140 on Dorsainvil.

I’m a little surprised that wasn’t split but it was a really fun fight. Mic time for Dorsainvil, he’s very emotional as the moment hits him and thanks God then says this win is for the underdogs and anyone can do it.

Marcio Barbosa is on a five fight winning streak including his UFC debut a few months ago, he’s looking to keep that momentum going with another win. Ryan Kuse brings a two fight winning streak into his UFC debut, he’s up against a much more seasoned opponent but a win would still be a great way to get his UFC career started. It’s not surprising to see Barbosa as a big favorite at -800 to a +550 comeback for Kuse.

Heck of a closing 2 minutes from Padilla there, he doesn’t get an interview though.

The knockdown.

And the finish.

Shamil Gaziev has gone 3-3 in the UFC but he’s on a two fight losing streak and if he ever wants to make a run at heavyweight he needs to halt that skid now. Kennedy Nzechukwu has been very up and down in the UFC, since moving to heavyweight he’s gone 2-1-1 but his last two fights have been a loss and a draw. Nzechukwu really needs to find a win here if he wants to make a real move in the division. The odds slightly favor Gaziev at -125 while +105 on Nzechukwu might tempt a few bettors out there.

Asked about the future he wants to fight again this year and preferably in Qatar.

Jamall Emmers has gone 5-4 in the UFC but he’s on a two fight winning streak and a third consecutive win would indicate he’s finally finding his footing in the promotion. Lerryan Douglas is on a six fight winning streak including his UFC debut earlier this year, he’s looking to keep that momentum and prove he’s a rising force in the division. Douglas closed as a notable favorite at -390 to a +300 comeback for Emmers.

Anthony Wint is undefeated including winning his contract on the Contender Series just 11 days ago, he’s another former football player turned MMA fighter, and looks to break that usually cheap contract in with another win. Carli Judice has gone 3-1 in the UFC but she’s on a three fight winning streak and looks to earn a shot at some bigger names with a fourth win here. Jeisla Chaves is undefeated including a successful UFC debut back in June, she’s looking to remain perfect here and prove that she’s the prospect to watch out of these two. The odds quite like Judice at -575 to +425 for Chaves.

Women’s Flyweight Bout: Jeisla Chaves (7-0, 124.5 lbs.) vs. Carli Judice (6-2, 125.5 lbs.)

The First Round Finish Club thanks Ms. Judice for her work. Mic time for Judice, she calls all of this a dream and says the fight couldn’t have really gone better. MarQuel Mederos is on a 10 fight unbeaten streak including being 3-0-1 in the UFC, most recently he did fight to a draw with Chris Padilla but he’s looking for a more positive outcome here. Mason Jones is on a seven fight winning streak including being 3-0 since returning to the UFC last year, he’s looking to keep that streak going and possibly get a crack at some bigger names for his next fight. Jones closed at -325 while that +260 payout on Mederos has to look pretty tempting.

Mederos gets an interview, he expected a war then sends love to his brother who died last week and dedicates the win to him. He knew there were going to be openings when Jones jabbed because he doesn’t quite watch the same side as he should, then he plays with the crowd a bit. Asked about the future he wants Chris Duncan or Beneil Dariush, both reasonable call outs but Dariush should really be considering retirement at this point.

Reinier de Ridder has gone 4-2 in the UFC but the weight cut to middleweight was becoming too much of a drain so he’s bumping up to light heavyweight and trying to break his two fight losing streak. De Ridder had some hype during his initial blitz through the ranks last year but now really needs to get back on the right side of things in his new weight class. Roman Dolidze is also on a two fight losing streak, he’s hoping a return to light heavyweight will breathe some life back into his career as he looked pretty listless his last couple of fights. The odds like de Ridder at -380 to +300 for Dolidze.

Light Heavyweight Bout: Reinier de Ridder (21-4, 205 lbs.) vs. Roman Dolidze (15-5, 206 lbs.)

A few short punches from de Ridder land as he blocks a kneebar attack. Dolidze keeps going for the leg but he’s getting punched in the head along the way and he’s really not finding the right angles and grips. De Ridder settles into half guard and drops a few elbows to the head. Lefts from de Ridder, Dolidze is just covering up now and seems done now that his leg attacks haven’t worked. De Ridder keeps landing punches, they’re not hard but Dolidze isn’t doing anything to really improve. Dolidze tries to rolls, at least that was something, but de Ridder keeps top position. De Ridder passes to side control, then full mount like it was nothing. Dolidze gives up the back, de Ridder unloads with punches until the ref steps in.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Reinier de Ridder via TKO, punches, at 4:01 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. de Ridder for his work. Mic time for de Ridder, he’s emotional and mentions losing two fights is like the end of the world and he’s been away from his family for 8 weeks and really needs to go hold his child again. He wasn’t surprised that Dolidze pulled guard and was well prepared, then he plays with the crowd. Asked about the future he warns that anyone at light heavyweight can get it now.

Serghei Spivac has been with the UFC since 2019, he’s 2-3 in his last five fights but is coming off of a win and now looks for his first winning streak since 2023. Anthony Hernandez just had an eight fight winning streak broken when he was stopped by Sean Strickland back in February, that loss has aged pretty well but he needs to avoid his first losing streak here to prove he’s still a viable player in the title picture. Gregory Rodrigues has gone 10-3 in the UFC, he’s on a three fight winning streak and is 6-1 in his last seven fights. The problem for Rodrigues is that the loss during that stretch was to Jared Cannonier, he’s now getting another shot at moving to the title picture but a second loss to this level of competition would put a serious ceiling on his career aspirations. The odds like Hernandez at -220 while +180 on Rodrigues might tempt a few bettors out there.

Not sure which was the other round Hernandez might have taken but I’m not going to lose too much sleep over it. Mic time for Rodrigues, he thanks God first and puts over Hernandez for the great fight. He is happy to shut up the haters who doubted his cardio as he just went five rounds with a machine. Asked about the future he wants Dricus du Plessis next, he’s been calling for that fight for a while and while it’s unlikely it’s not unfair now.

Hernandez gets mic time too, he puts over Rodrigues then plays with the crowd and promises to get back to work as soon as possible.
