Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of UFC Fight Night: Medic vs. Rodriguez, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. We’re still in a bit of an overall lull in UFC events, it feels like most of the events post UFC 329 have been a little bit lackluster. As for this event the UFC is making it’s first trip to Serbia and there’s a lot of more local talent booked for this card. The main event is likely to be fun at least when Uros Medic takes on Daniel Rodriguez, both men are ranked at welterweight but it also feels like we’ve seen the ceiling for both men. Navajo Stirling steps in on short notice to take on Jan Blachowicz in the co-main event and Aleksandar Rakic moves up to heavyweight against Marcin Tybura. Elsewhere on the card the debut of Vlasto Cepo might be interesting, Ludovit Klein vs. Tofiq Musayev should be pretty good, and Mateusz Rebecki is almost always in good fights. But we’ve got 14 fights and it’d just be untrue to pretend all of them look good on paper. Even UFC president Dana White couldn’t tell you which fights on this card he was excited for. But let’s hope the action delivers even if the pre-fight excitement isn’t there.

UFC Fight Night: Medic vs. Rodriguez comes to the world from Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, Serbia. We’ve got Jon Anik, Michael Bispin, and Paul Felder on commentary which is a pretty strong trio. Bruce Buffer will be announcing while Heidi Androl handles the roving reporter duties. We’ll be in the usual 30 foot cage and I believe the newer rules will be in place but of course I’ll update this if that’s inaccurate.

Marina Spasic is making her UFC debut here, she’s coming off of a win though and will be trying to make the most of her debut opportunity in her home country. Stephanie Luciano has gone 2-1 in the UFC and is coming off of a win over Ravena Oliveira and now looks for her first UFC winning streak. Luciano is a pretty solid favorite at -340 to Spasic’s +265.

Strawweight Bout: Stephanie Luciano (7-2-1, 115 lbs.) vs. Marina Spasic (7-1, 115.5 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Luciano is two inches taller with an inch and a half of reach advantage. Some early forward motion from Spasic, she lands a calf kick to counter a right hand. Bit of a flurry from Spasic. Luciano fakes a takedown and lands a right hand. Combination from Luciano. Bit of a right from Luciano. Luciano is showing oblique kicks now to stifle Spasic’s forward pressure. Blitz from Luciano almost all lands. Spasic with a combination of her own. Body kick from Spasic. Luciano with a well timed double leg into half guard. Spasic gives up the back, Luciano gets the choke and forces the tap to kill the crowd.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Stephanie Luciano via Submission, rear naked choke, at 3:20 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Ms. Luciano for her work. Mic time for Luciano and the translator, she puts over Serbia as a country then says she works hard to finish fights. She says she’s getting better and is ready to keep moving up, the says a few things which go untranslated and my Portuguese isn’t that good.

The finish can be seen HERE.

Jovan Leka brings a six fight winning streak into his UFC debut, he’s here off of a Contender Series win and now looks to extend that streak and make the most of his chance at a first impression. Alexander Poppeck took this fight on somewhat short notice when he replaced Max Gimenis, Poppeck is also normally a light heavyweight but the chance to get into the UFC was too tempting to pass up even if he had to bump up a weight class to get here. Given the short notice replacement it’s not surprising that Leka is the favorite at -280 against a +230 comeback on Poppeck.

Heavyweight Bout: Jovan Leka (13-2, 262.5 lbs.) vs. Alexander Poppeck (21-5 1 NC, 215 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Leka is two inches taller but the reach is identical, Leka is also 47 or so pounds heavier and a full decade younger. They touch gloves to get things going. Poppeck with some stance switching as he circles. Calf kick from Poppeck. Bit of a jab from Leka. Another calf kick from Poppeck. Bit of a right hand from Leka. Poppeck keeps sticking and moving, Leka feels very slow thus far. Leka goes southpaw now for a bit but nothing comes of it. Another calf kick from Poppeck. Leka goes southpaw again, then lands a left body kick that basically folds Poppeck over and a few more punches on the mat get the stoppage.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Jovan Leka via TKO, body kick and punches, at 2:22 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Leka for his work. Mic time for Leka after that, he says this feels great to win in Serbia then speaks Serbian for the people and does his own translation to put over Poppeck for taking the fight on short notice especially with the size difference. He talks us through the finish and mentions his kicking game gets overlooked but it’s quite good.

Nina Milosevic brings an eight fight winning streak into her UFC debut, now she’s trying to maximize her chance at a first impression. Hailey Cowan has gone 0-3 in the UFC and pretty badly needs to find that first UFC win here. The odds really like Milosevic at -550 while a Cowan comeback sits at +400.

Women’s Bantamweight Bout: Hailey Cowan (7-5, 136 lbs.) vs. Nina Milosevic (8-1, 134.5 lbs.)

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Nina Milosevic via TKO, body punches, at 3:41 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Ms. Milosevic for her work. Mic time for Milosevic, she’s very excited and talks about how hard she worked to get the finish. Asked about the future she wants back in as soon as possible.

Mateusz Rebecki has gone 4-4 in the UFC but he’s currently on a three fight losing streak, his history of very entertaining fights is helping him remain relevant but he really needs to get back on the winning side of things. Kyle Prepolec has gone 0-4 in the UFC across two different stints, he’s gone 0-2 since returning over a year ago and now really needs to find that critical first UFC win. Rebecki is the biggest favorite on the card at -800 to +550 on Prepolec.

Lightweight Bout: Kyle Prepolec (18-10, 155 lbs.) vs. Mateusz Rebecki (20-5, 155.5 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Prepolec is three inches taller with four inches of reach advantage. Southpaw for both men. Rebecki comes out swinging then hits a single leg into full guard. Some body punches from Rebecki, he’s definitely not just holding on. Rebecki lands a few elbows now too as he gets postured up to drop them. A few more punches from Rebecki land. Prepolec is kind of stuck here, he tries to find a switch or a get up but Rebecki keeps him down. There’s a cut under the right eye of Prepolec and it’s swelling up as well. Prepolec moves to sit against the fence, Rebecki is sitting on one of his legs and landing a few punches. Both men swing some punches from that position. Rebecki collects both legs, that lets him hit some more punches and short elbows. Prepolec is really struggling here, he is kind of stuck on his knees. Rebecki keeps landing punches, Prepolec is unable to get up or defend beyond just covering up and the ref has given him plenty of warnings before now and does step in to halt things.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Mateusz Rebecki via TKO, punches, at 4:41 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Rebecki for his work. Mic time for Rebecki, they’ve got a Polish translator but Rebecki says he understands enough. He talks about working hard and finally is bringing his training form into the cage. He talks us through the finish and notes he was just going to keep dishing out the punishment until he got the finish. To close he puts over his team then calls out Benoit Saint Denis for a war. A little ambitious on the callout but not unreasonable given Saint Denis’s performance against Paddy Pimblett.

Bogdan Grad has gone 1-2 in the UFC and is on a two fight losing streak, he really needs a win here just to get his UFC record back to the .500 mark. Dennis Buzukja has gone just 1-4 in the UFC and is currently riding a two fight losing streak, he really needs a win here if he wants a bit of job security as 1-5 might get him cut from the roster. The odds are with Grad at -205 while +170 on Buzukja might tempt a few bettors out there.

Buzukja also has a bit of a knee shield but Grad passes it and Buzukja spasms looking to grabs his leg for defense but that looked like a tap and the ref treats it as such.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Bogdan Grad via Submission, arm triangle choke, at 4:33 of Round 2

Buzukja isn’t happy with that decision by the ref. Mic time for Grad, he plays with the crowd a bit then says he feels great. Asked about the finish he says he didn’t feel the tap but the ref is the arbiter not him and the refs are the best.

As mentioned Buzukja wasn’t happy, here’s the finish and you can judge for yourself.

Mark Vologdin fought to a draw in his UFC debut a few months ago, he was also half of the Fight of the Year from 2025 but now definitely needs to start finding his footing in the UFC. Borislav Nikolic took this fight on fairly short notice but he is on a six fight winning streak and will be looking to announce his arrival in the promotion with a win. Despite stepping in on short notice Nikolic is the favorite at -205 to +170 on Vologdin.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Borislav Nikolic via unanimous decision (29-27 x3)

Mic time for Nikolic, he says he can’t comment on the first round because he doesn’t remember it. He was ready for a really tough fight and he’s trained for years to get here. He’s happy to fight home, or anywhere really. To close he wants a rematch with Brad Katona who beat him earlier in his career.

Oban Elliott has gone 3-2 in the UFC, he started fairly hot but now finds himself on a two fight losing streak. Now Elliott really needs to halt that skid and prove he’s still a viable prospect in the division. Michael Oliveira is undefeated coming into his UFC debut, he’s looking to make the most of his only chance at leaving a good first impression. Oliveira is a surprisingly heavy favorite at -370 while +290 on Elliott might tempt some bettors out there.

Asked about the future he mentions Geoff Neal or Chidi Njokuani at an upcoming event so he’d like that to be rebooked.

Ludovit Klein has only lost to Mateusz Gamrot since returning to lightweight back in 2022, most recently he bested Mateusz Rebecki despite suffering a pretty gnarly ankle injury in that fight. Klein is back in action here and looking to build another winning streak while possibly starting a final push through the crowded division. Tofiq Musayev has gone 1-1 in the UFC but scored a really solid win his last time out and now looks for his first UFC winning streak. The odds like Klein at -275 while that +225 payout on Musayev is a really tempting value bet.

Lightweight Bout: Ludovit Klein (24-5-1, 155.5 lbs.) vs. Tofiq Musayev (23-6, 155.5 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Musayev is two inches taller but Klein has three and a half inches of reach advantage. Southpaw for Klein. Both men probe with the lead hand early. OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Tofiq Musayev via TKO, punches, at 4:07 of Round 2

Mic time for Musayev and the translator, he attacked the right leg because that’s the ankle Klein injured in his last fight then puts over his team and the people of Azerbaijan. He thanks more people then wants a top 15 opponent next, that’s not unreasonable, and a bonus which means he’s unlikely to get it.

Milos Janicic brings an eight fight winning streak into his UFC debut and will be looking to extend that here, this is also about as close to a home game as he’ll give as he’s from Montenegro and the UFC seems unlikely to get to that country in the near future. Noah Gugnon is a fellow UFC debutante to Janicic, Gugnon is on a five fight winning streak including a good run through Ares and now tries to get that first UFC win. Finally a close fight, -115 on Gugnon to -105 for Janicic for technically a pick ’em.

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Gugnon for his work. Mic time for Gugnon, he plays with the crowd then says he knew calf kicks would be important but the quick injury to Janicic was a little surprising. He talks us through the finish then says he wants to stay active but nothing beyond that.

Vlasto Cepo brings a two fight winning streak into his UFC debut, his recent fights have been in the very reputable Oktagon promotion and he’ll be trying to turn in a memorable win for his debut. Gilbert Urbina has gone just 1-3 in the UFC and is on a two fight losing streak, he really needs to halt that skid with a win here and is hoping a move up to middleweight will do that. The odds are with Cepo at -370 while Urbina’s comeback sits at +290.

Cepo is just holding on and the ref steps in as Cepo just can’t get up or even start the process.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Gilbert Urbina via TKO, punches and elbows, at 1:01 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Urbina for his work. Mic time for Urbina, he puts over Cepo then mentions everyone knows how dangerous he will be at middleweight. He got tired of the weight cut to welterweight and now feels good in the new weight class, then puts over his team. To close he speaks some Spanish then sends love to Serbia.

Dusko Todorovic has gone 4-6 in the UFC but he is coming off of a win and could now get his first UFC winning streak up and running. Robert Valentin has gone just 1-3 in the UFC, he is coming off of a win though when the UFC found him about the lowest level of opposition they keep on the roster. Valentin is trying to get his first UFC winning streak going here and prove he’s growing into a worthwhile fighter. Close one here, -170 on Valentin while +145 for Todorovic is definitely a tempting little wager.

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Valentin for his work. Mic time for Valentin, some audio issues show up, he says Todorovic was strong but he figured he could tap him in the first round. He again puts Todorovic over then sends love to Serbia. To close he says this is a big national holiday in Switzerland and they share a hand gesture.

Marcin Tybura has had a surprisingly lengthy UFC run which dates back to April of 2016, he’s been a bit up and down during that time and now generally serves as a stubborn measuring stick at heavyweight. Tybura is on a two fight losing streak though and at age 40 he’d like a win to help stave off talk of retirement and get a little job security. Aleksandar Rakic had some promise back in 2019 or so, but a knee injury when fighting Jan Blachowicz in 2022 really derailed his momentum. Rakic is on a four fight losing streak right now and is hoping a move up to heavyweight will salvage his UFC career. Rakic is a rather heavy favorite at -370 to +290 for Tybura.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Rakic, 30-27 Rakic overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Aleksandar Rakic via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)

Mic time for Rakic, he plays with the crowd then talks about being comfortable at heavyweight. To close plays with the crowd some more.

Jan Blachowicz is a former light heavyweight champion but since losing that title to Glover Teixeira he’s just 1-2-2, though in fairness those losses were close decisions to Alex Pereira and Carlos Ulberg so he’s not losing to scrubs. Most recently Blachowicz fought to a draw with Bogdan Guskov and now really needs his first win since 2022. Navajo Stirling took this fight on fairly short notice, but he’s undefeated and has been steadily moving up the light heavyweight rankings. Stirling could score the biggest win of his career if he can best a former champion like Blachowicz and take another big step towards the title picture. Despite stepping in on short notice the odds like Stirling at a somewhat hefty -340 while +265 on Blachowicz has to be tempting.

Light Heavyweight Bout: #4 Jan Blachowicz (29-11-2, 205 lbs.) vs. #15 Navajo Stirling (10-0, 205 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Stirling is two inches taller with an inch of reach advantage, he’s also 15 years younger. Inside leg kick from Stirling to start. Stirling keeps showing that lead leg kick, then slips throwing a head kick. Blachowicz tries to get on top, Stirling quickly scrambles up into a clinch and pushes Blachowicz into the fence. They break without much happening. Again Stirling keeps showing the inside calf kick, then adds a regular one for good measure. Blachowicz clips Stirling with a left hook, he looks to follow up but they wind up clinched again. They break without incident. Calf kick from Stirling. Blachowicz with a left to the body, Stirling returns it then lands an inside calf kick. Hard right hand from Stirling drops Blachowicz, he gets on top in full guard and unloads with elbows. Blachowicz is cut open now and Stirling keeps dropping elbows. Stirling stands and drops punches onto Blachowicz and the ref steps in to end things.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Navajo Stirling via TKO, punches and elbows, at 2:56 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Stirling for his work. Mic time for Stirling, he talks about the mental side of things and puts over Blachowicz. He talks us through the finish and puts over his team. Next he sends love to his sister and dedicates the win to her. Asked about the future he wants Paulo Costa or Khalil Rountree, both are very reasonable names for him.

Uros Medic has gone 7-3 in the UFC but he’s on a three fight winning streak and is in the main event here because he’s a native Serb and has never had a fight go the distance. A win here would be storybook for Medic. Daniel Rodriguez is on a three fight winning streak though he’s been out of action for a little over a year while being in a Mexican jail, he’s looking to extend that streak and spoil the homecoming of Medic. Medic is a fairly heavy favorite at -400 to a +310 comeback on Rodriguez.

Welterweight Bout: #14 Uros Medic (13-3, 171 lbs.) vs. #15 Daniel Rodriguez (20-5, 171 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: These two are the same height while Rodriguez has three inches of reach advantage. Both men open southpaw and come out jabbing. Calf kick from Medic. Rodriguez lands a calf kick of his own. Left hand from Medic, he follows up to drop Rodriguez and then pounds things out on the mat to get the stoppage.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Uros Medic via TKO, punches, at :30 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Medic for his work, and is proud to sponsor this event which sent a new record for most first round finishes and most total finishes. Mic time for Medic after that, he gets emotional about the moment a the crowd is very much giving him love then says it’s been a tough few weeks before the fight but getting the job done now makes him want to cry. He’s missed home a lot, he left 9 years go with a dream and now gets to come home like this. He dedicates the win to Christ for keeping him safe away from home. There’s not enough time for all the words he has, but he will beat the rest of the division and he’ll bring the belt to Serbia. Asked about the future he mentions Carlos Prates, or Leon Edwards who he thinks is still in hiding. Edwards is a little more possible at this point. To close he sends love to the crowd again.
