Josh Copeland Ready For Rematch With Blagoy Ivanov

June 20, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Josh Copeland (12-4) said that he’s ready for his upcoming rematch with Blagoy Ivanov (14-1 ) after losing to the WSOF heavyweight champion at WSOF 31 this past weekend. Here are highlights:

On not understand why he was bleeding: “I remember him cracking me pretty good right at the end of one of the rounds, but I don’t remember which one it was. It might have been the first round. I just remember going in and swinging. Next thing I knew, it was drip, drip, drip. I was like, ‘I’ll take it.’”

On thinking he should have won: “Man, I’m a real person, and I don’t know what you guys saw. In the fight, I felt as though I was countering him best. I thought I did well with octagon control and felt like I was getting the best of the exchanges. But that’s trying not to be biased. I thought that I did well enough, but I might have a completely different opinion when I go back and watch it on TV.”

On a possible rematch: “Oh, dude, I just like to fight. I’ve never said I’m the best; I just go out and do the best that I can and want to use this stage to love and encourage people. I’m blessed to be where I’m at. (I’ll do the rematch) any time. As long as I’m healthy and get everything healed up, let’s go.”
