Justin Scoggins vs. Ian McCall Scratched From UFC 201
Justin Scoggins has pulled out out of his fight with Ian McCall at UFC 201 this weekend. Scoggins spoke with MMAjunkie and said that the fight is off because he was having weight-cutting issues. McCall will still step on the scales for tomorrow’s weigh-in to get his show money.
McCall spoke with the site about the development; some highlights are below:
On feeling bad for Scoggins: “Whatever. As much as I like Justin, I want to be a (expletive) and say something, but whatever. Weight cutting isn’t good for you, and if you don’t do it right – and he’s young, he’s probably stupid about it. But he’s a good fighter, so hopefully this won’t tarnish his name too much. It’s weird that I feel bad for him, but this weight cutting (expletive) is horrible for you. I’m just getting it done because I’m getting paid.”
On Scoggins having proposed a catchweight fight: “I’ve already been screwed more than once in this situation, so I’m not going to do it again.”
On possibly getting rebooked for next month at UFC 202: “That would be cool. It’s a big card. I think I deserve it.”
