Leon Edwards Plans to Get the Finish Against Peter Sobotta at UFC Fight Night 127
Leon Edwards spoke with MMAjunkie ahead of his fight with Peter Sobotta at UFC Fight Night 127. Highlights are below:
On wanting to send a message with the fight: “I’ll go out there, I’ll prove my case. And I want a top-10 guy in July. On that (Daniel Cormier) vs. Stipe (Miocic) card. So that’s my plan.”
On wanting to finish the fight: “Winning ain’t enough in the UFC no more. You have to finish. I feel I need to finish this guy and I’ll stake my claim on that mic and we’ll go from there for July.”
On changing his training process: “Before, I used to travel back-and-forth from the States to the U.K. to try to find wrestling. But I believe we’ve got everything I need here in the U.K. So far, proof’s in the pudding. It’s all working out perfectly.”
On Sobotta: “I feel I put him away. Peter has been finished before. One of my old teammates fought him back in the day, Paul Taylor. … He’s been finished by body shots, by knockouts. He’s used to getting finished. So I feel I’ll go out there and I’ll finish him in the first or the second round.”
