Nate Diaz vs. Leon Edwards Moved to June Due to Minor Diaz Injury

May 4, 2021 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Nate Diaz’s return to the Octagon will have to wait until June thanks to a small injury. ESPN has confirmed that Diaz, who was set to face Leon Edwards in the co-main event of UFC 262 next weekend, is dealing with a minor injury and as such the fight will instead take place on UFC 263 on June 12th.

Details on the injury were not revealed. The fight will remain a five-round non-title bout. Diaz’s last fight was a loss to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in November of 2019. Edwards, meanwhile, is coming off a no-contest against Belal Muhammad in March and hasn’t lost since December of 2015, when he came up short against Kamaru Usman.

UFC 263 will be headlined by Israel Adesanya defending his title against Marvin Vettori.
