Nate Diaz Says He’s Dropping Out of UFC 244 Over Potential Doping Violation

October 24, 2019 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Nate Diaz has thrown a monkeywrench into plans for UFC 244, saying he’s dropping out of his fight with Jorge Masvidal over being flagged for a potential doping violation. Diaz, who was set to face Masvidal on the show on November 2nd, posted to Twitter as you can see below saying that he’s not making it to the show or Fight Week because he was told that he tested for “elevated levels.” He did not say what substance, though that often refers to testosterone and the Twitter caption “Your [sic] all on steroids not me” would seem to imply that.

Diaz wrote:

“I’m not gonna make it out to NYC for fight week next week because they say I tested with elevated levels that they say might be from some tainted supplements. I call false on that course. I only take Whole Food or natural food supplements. I don’t even eat meat. So until UFC, USADA or whoever if F***ing with me fixes it, I won’t be competing. I’m not gonna play their game and try and hide it or keep quiet, as they suggested. I’m not gonna have my name tainted as a cheater like these other motherf**ker who keep quiet until after the fight just so they can get paid. F**kin cheaters.

I don’t give a f*** about some money over my dignity and my legacy. I’m not playing along wit ths bulls**t.

I’m not staying quiet and figuring it out after the fight. That’s cheating. So fight game, I’ll see you when I see you.

Sincerely,
The realest baddest motherf**ker in the game”

Masvidal responded to Diaz’s post, writing:

You not the baddest mofo in the game (i am) but you are one of the cleanest mofo’s [Diaz]. I’ll see you nov 2. I know your name is clean. I don’t need [USADA] to tell me s**t!”

The UFC has not yet commented on the turn of events.
