November 25, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

UPDATE: MMAjunkie has confirmed with Bellator that a new main event has been set for Bellator 167. With Patricky Freire out of his fight with Derek Campos, a bantamweight rematch between Darrion Caldwell and Joe Taimanglo will now headline the card.

The fight was already set for the main card of the show, which takes place in Thackerville, Oklahoma on December 3rd.

ORIGINAL: MMA Junkie reports that Patricky Freire (16-8 MMA, 9-7 BMMA) is out of his lightweight main event with Derek Campos (17-6 MMA, 6-3 BMMA) due to injury. The fight was scheduled for Bellator 167, which happens at the WinStar World Casino & Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma on December 3. It follows Bellator 166, which happens on December 2 at the same location. Both events air on Spike TV after preliminary fights on MMA Junkie. The fight was a rematch from Bellator 117 in April 2014, where Freire won with a second-round TKO.

It’s unknown what fight will be named the new main event. It’s possible a fight from Bellator 166 could be moved over. Freire/Campos wasn’t the original main event for the event. It was originally Pat Curran (22-7 MMA, 12-4 BMMA) vs. John Teixeira (18-1-2 MMA, 3-0 BMMA), but Curran was forced out due to an injury. Here’s the current card:
