Scott Coker Thinks Bellator MMA Will Definitely Return to England
Bellator MMA President Scott Coker spoke to reporters in a media scrum following Bellator 158 (via MMAjunkie). Below are some highlights.
Coker on Michael Page wanting to be champion: “At the end of the day, Michael wants to be the champ. He’ll tell you that, too. He wants to go to the top. This was a big test for him. ‘Cyborg’ is no joke. He’s fought everybody, and he had a rough finish there. It just proves ‘MVP’ can fight anybody on any given day. He’ll take the next step up and maybe in a couple more fights we’ll give him a shot, but the next title fight will be between Douglas Lima and (current welterweight champ Andrey) Koreshkov.”
Coker on Bellator returning to England: “I think that we’re going to go back to the offices, check the ratings and see how it did on Channel 5. It’s a great opportunity for us because when you get on Channel 5 – terrestrial television is free for the country to watch – it’s a great thing and a great opportunity for us to build Bellator. It’s nice to have your parent company integrated vertically with the fight company. We’ll be back and I think the ratings will do quite well.”
