UFC Targeting Rob Font vs. Cody Garbrandt to Headline May 22 Fight Night Event

ESPN reports that the UFC is looking to finalize a five-round bantamweight fight between former champion Cody Garbrandt and Rob Font for an upcoming May fight card. Per multiple sources for ESPN, contracts have not yet been signed, but the bout is expected to headline the UFC Fight Night card taking place on May 22.

Cody Garbrandt is looking to keep up the momentum after a second-round knockout victory over Raphael Assunção that took place at UFC 250 in June of last year. With the win, he finally snapped a three-fight losing streak after losing to TJ Dillashaw in back-to-back title fights and a knockout loss to Pedro Munhoz at UFC 235 in May 2019.

His prospective opponent, Rob Font, is on a three-fight winning streak, and he got a stunning knockout victory over former bantamweight title contender Marlon Moraes last December at UFC on ESPN+ 41 last December. His current UFC record stands at 8-3.

The UFC has not yet officially confirmed the venue or host city for the Fight Night card.
