Kim Kardashian Files For Divorce From Kanye West
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s marriage is coming to an end after seven years, with the reality star/mogul filing for divorce. TMZ reports that Kardashian has filed for divorce from West. Kardashian is seeking joint custody of their four children, and sources close to the matter say that West is fine with that with the two committed to co-parenting.
The site reports that there’s no date of separation listed on the divorce filings, though the two have been publicly at odds since mid-2020 amid West’s run for president. In late July, West made public comments on his Twitter account claiming that Kardashian “tried to bring a doctor to lock me up” after a rally in which he made erratic statements. He made other critical statements in following weeks about Kardashian and her family, referring to Kris Jenner at one point as “Kris Jong-Un.”
The site reports that Kardashian was close to divorcing West at that point but didn’t want to do so while he was struggling with bipolar disorder. The site also says that the couple have been living separately for a few months. The couple have a prenuptial agreement in place, and neither party is contesting it. They are said to be “far along” in progress toward a property settlement agreement.
West and Kardashian began dating in 2012 and married in May of 2014, just under a year after the birth of their first child North West. Kardashian was previously married to music producer Damon Thomas, divorcing in 2004, and was married to Kris Humphries in 2011 but got divorced after just 72 days. This is West’s first marriage and divorce.
