411’s NWA: TNA PPV Report 08.04.04

Welcome to THE BEST DAMN TNA RECAP Ver. 1, of the 8-4-04 show for 411wrestling.com. I am your party host Larry Csonka!

To start off, I saw something on the forums, and I thought I would share with you:

LTC trained and worked matches just like (Name with held) did, and LTC loves TNA. The difference between them is that LTC has an open minded optimism and doesn’t try to fit everything he sees into his preconceived notions of what good wrestling is and isn’t, he just takes it as it comes.

That made me feel good my friends. Thank you Roy! Trust me, I know TNA is NOT perfect, but I do enjoy it a lot and that is why we watch wrestling. Right?

New Business!

Since everything that has happened in the last few days, Ashish has busted his ass to get things organized. Shoot him an email if you get a chance, because he has done everything possible to keep 411 running as smooth as possible. Also, I will be doing much more here at 411. I will stick to my 2 recaps, but will be adding some DVD reviews, a Sunday news column and a special weekly feature to debut next Tuesday. To all of those that enjoy reading me, please shoot me some feedback on these new things here at 411, I truly answer everyone and do appreciate them. For those of you that hate me (This dudeа[email protected]) well, keep sending you hate mails. They are great for a fun read.

Back to business!

Remember I recap on the fly and do my best to catch as much as humanly possible. I don’t do star ratings, not my thing. I have a good time, and yes I really enjoy TNA as well as the WWE and mostly all wrestling. So sit back and relax and enjoy The Best Damn TNA Recap Ver. 1!

Scott Hudson outside with Dusty Rhodes. He was ruffled last week, but he is from Texas. He talked to Russo, and this will be a great night for TNA as they will announce the Championship Committee. David Young is leaving and says good-bye to Dream. Dusty is excited…if you weiiiiiiiiiilllll!

Highlights hyping the night of revenge: Raven vs. Sabu and their FIRST EVER MEETING!

Tenay and West welcome us to the Asylum in Nashville!

Match #1 Sabu vs. Raven

Sabu tackles Raven to start, and beats on him. Raven to the floor, and Sabu nails a flip dive and then goes for a table. Russian leg sweep by Sabu into the steel railing. He tosses Raven to the steel post, and lays him on a table and gets a chair. Raven gets up, but Sabu gets a triple jump onto a standing Raven. Sabu and Raven back in the ring, leap off the chair into the corner by Sabu, and now he punches away. Sabu has a SCREW DRIVER! Raven tosses Sabu to the floor and through the table, but Raven’s head is all bleeding and jacked up. Sabu holds his leg, and a bloody Raven follows. Back in and Raven works over Sabu with the chair. Sabu is STILL holding onto his leg, as Raven gives a knee drop with the chair. Raven wedges the chair in the corner, and tosses Sabu in HEAD first! Raven is bleeding a lot as Sabu still holds his leg. Raven jacks him with the chair and gets 2. Camel Clutch by Raven, chokes Sabu then lets him go. Raven sets up the chair and a drop toe hold onto the chair by Raven. No cover, as he goes for it again and gets it! He tries it again but Sabu leaps over to the chair, TRIPLE SPRING BACK KICK! Both men are down, and now Raven to his feet and they duke it out. CHAIR SHOT by Sabu! Another. SMASH MOUTH! Camel Clutch by Raven! Raven is bleeding badly. Arabian face buster, again! A THIRD! Sabu covers and gets 2. Sabu sets the chair up…TRIPLE JUMP MOONSAULT! Sabu grabs his leg again. Covers for 2. Sabu goes up top with the chair…MISSES the top rope Arabian Face buster. Raven covers and gets 2. Raven to the floor and gets a table. In the ring now, and Sabu sets it up and has control. 2 Chair shot s now, and Sabu gets another chair. He lays Raven on the chair…SANDWICH ARABIAN FACE BUSTER! He lays Raven on the table…TRIPLE JUMP LEG DROP TO RAVEN! The crowd loves it! He covers and gets 2! A masked figure watches on from the bleachers. Raven fights back now, covers and has the ropes but the ref catches him. DDT BY RAVEN and Sabu KICKS OUT! Raven to the floor, and looks and finds another table! In the ring with the table, but Sabu jacks him with the chair. Sabu lays him on the table. Raven is up and has Sabu on the top. The table breaks, they land on their feet, DDT ON THE TABLE ANYWAY! Covers and that is all @ 11:57.

Raven gets to his feet, and has a crazed look in his eyes.

Why in the hell was this the opener? Where do you go from here? It was intense and off the hook, and now someone has to follow it. Great brawl, and a lot of fun.

Scott Hudson outside with D RAY driving a limo! He’s running late, and Sharky is out with a plate of shrimp. Shelley comes out, and bitches about the shrimp. He tells Sharky to detail the shrimp. Goldi isn’t worried about anything. She bosses Sharky and D Ray around, and Abyss is in the trunk. Abyss tosses the shrimp down.

Match #2 Abyss vs. Sonny Siaki (Contract of Siaki vs. Goldi’s money)

Lock up to start, and Abyss shoves Siaki away. Siaki with a headlock, shoved off the ropes and a shoulder block by Abyss takes Siaki to the floor. Siaki back in, leg lariat, then a drop kick and Abyss is still up. Drop toehold, and Siaki takes Abyss to the floor. Siaki up top…cross body to the floor onto Abyss! They brawl, and Abyss crushes Siaki into the steel post. Then he tosses Siaki into the steps. Back in the ring, and Abyss just hammers away at Siaki. Chops by Abyss in the corner, and Siaki is in pain. Abyss misses, and Siaki fires away at him. Chops by Siaki now, but Abyss levels him with a clothesline. Sidewalk slam by Abyss gets 2. Abyss to the 2nd rope, MISSES a leg drop. Rolling neck breaker by Siaki and they are both down. They fight to their feet, flying elbow by Siaki takes Abyss down. 2nd rope clothesline by Siaki! Samoan drop by Siaki gets 2. Goldi is out now, and yells at Abyss. Choke slam by Abyss and Siaki kicks out! The ref and Security escorts Goldi away, Abyss has the briefcase, but Siaki counters and KILLS Abyss with it! He covers…and gets 2! Desire is out and takes down Goldi. Shelley is down, and grabs Desire, she tries to fight back and Siaki stops him. SHOCK TREATMENT by Abyss finishes Siaki @ 7:37.

Shelley and Goldi celebrate and leave Abyss again.

Pretty good match, as they worked well together. They are advancing this story with Abyss well.

Scott Hudson with Kazarian and Shane w/Traci. They are proud to be co-holders, and they know Russo has something planned. They say they will NEVER wrestle each other. Kazarian says they will show Sabin and Lynn that they own the X-Division.

Match #3 Kazarian and Michael Shane w/Traci vs. Jerry Lynn and Chris Sabin

Sabin flies top the floor onto Kazarian and Shane to start! They brawl on the floor, and Lynn and Kazarian go to the ring. Clothesline by Lynn, and a tag to Sabin. Basement dropkick by Sabin to Kazarian. Reversals sequence between Sabin and Kazarian and Sabin gets a springboard moonsault for 2. Tag to Lynn, and a double bulldog to Kazarian for 2. Tag to Shane, and he punches away at Lynn. Lynn tries to fight back, and gets a tag to Sabin. Chops by both men, Sabin off the ropes, and Kazarian low bridges him and he falls to the floor. Kazarian rolls Sabin backing and goes to work. Tag to Shane and the ram Sabin in the corner. Knee drop by Shane, and then a tag to Kazarian. Slam by Kazarian, and a headlock to Sabin. Sabin tries to fight back, but Kazarian takes him down, and tags Shane who levels Sabin with a clothesline. Double team with Kazarian getting a springboard leg drop for 2. Sabin with a kick, but gets a clothesline. Blind tag to Shane, and he takes down Sabin with a headlock. Tenay says Raven was taken to the hospital and Sabu has a leg injury he says. Sabin still getting beat down, catches Kazarian on a cross body, falls back and rolls through and back to his feet with him and gets the BUM RUSH! Tag to Lynn! Lynn all over the place. TKO to Shane. Kicks to Kazarian, Sabin in with an Enziguri to Kazarian! Traci is in, KRYPTONITE KRUNCH TO TRACI BY LYNN! Missile Drop kick to Shane by Sabin. Sabin goes for the Cradle shock, but Shane gets a super kick and Kazarian rolls Sabin up for the win @ 8:11.

Fun match. Lots of great work from Shane and Kazarian as a team. Sabin is a great Ricky Morton.

Scott Hudson with Monty Brown. He says the announcement will impact him immensely. They better say the right thing, or they will be on his endangered species list. He says he ran through everyone and didn’t get his shot. He does some funny ass sound effects while making fun of his past opponents. He makes fun of Hardy’s name “the charismatic enigma.” He is sick of people messing with him in matches and interviews. He says if someone says his name, they will get the POOOOOOOOOUUUNCE!

Russo is in the ring. He says he feels like he has done this to many times. He hates backstage politics. It’s about who you know. He says when he was in this spot in WWE and WCW, he went home. He said he was different when he came back. He has inner peace. He wants to do the right thing and won’t run. He says he has to address the X and Tag titles. He will let Tenay tell us later. He knows he can’t do this by himself, and some people hate him. Tonight, he will name a championship committee to take away his stress. (These members are not here live.) Member #1 was known all around, even in NY. He is what wrestling was all about. It is Harley Race. He says since people want to use politics, he needs someone who knows how to play the game. Member #2 will be Larry Zbyzko. He says the 3rd member that they have had their differences, and they may not always agree but for the good of TNA, they will put things aside. They show Dusty in the back, and he is with AMW and all happy. The 3rd member is Terry Funk! Dusty looks pissed! There will be a match with Jeff Hardy and JJ. He will let the Committee decide the date. Dusty comes out now and is pissed. He says he was sent to bring Jeff Hardy to TNA, and he did. Russo says with all due respect, he said Dusty wanted JJ in the ring, and Russo did that. He says Dusty has love, passion and hate and can’t make a proper decision. Dusty says JJ and Jeff should be now, tonight. Dusty says he and Funk have hated each other forever, and why would Russo bring him here? Dusty wants to know what is left for him, and JJ comes out. JJ yells “you are out of here!” JJ say she gives credit to Russo, because they know Dusty hates them all. JJ is stirring the pot! JJ says Dusty is on the outside looking in. JJ says his TNA run has been good, and it is time to go. Dusty struts…Russo leaves the ring smartly. Dusty tells him to put the belt down, and for JJ to kick his ass out personally! Russo watches on. BIONIC ELBOWS! JJ cheap shots him and beats on him now. JJ grabs the guitar, but Hardy is out! He holds JJ, and Dusty grabs the guitar…here comes the Alpha Male…POOOOOOOOOUNCE TO DUSTY! Here comes Killings! Forearm to Brown, and JJ and Hardy fight. JJ to the floor and Brown as well as Hardy and Killings stand strong.

Scott Hudson with D’amore and Team Canada. There is going to be an open invitational for the X Division title, and Team Canada vs. the 3LK for a #1 contendership for the Tag Titles. D’amore is glad Dusty isn’t on the Championship committee. Next week, they will be going for the Tag Titles, but he has entered Petey Williams in the gauntlet for the X Title. They talk about the country whooping match, D’amore says it sounds like Saskatoon Strap match! OHHHHHH CAAAAAANADA!

Match #4 Pat Kenney vs. Big Vito (Luck of the Irish Weapons match)

The rules are, there are 3 chests and 2 of them are empty. There is a Rugby ball with a key that opens the chests. You gotta be shittin me?

Vito gets the ball, and they punch it out. Kenney takes Vito down, and gets the ball, but Trinity steals it and tries to open a chest. She does, and it is empty. More slow punching. Trinity unlocks another case, and it is empty. They place Kenney’s head between the 2 cases, and Vito basically misses a kick to it. Nice. They beat down Kenney some more, and Trinity kicks Kenney in the head. Now Vito and Trinity argue, and they fight. Kenney hits Vito from behind, he crushes Trinity, and then she falls into Vito’s balls. Oh yeah, Gilbertti is out now, and he beats on Kenney. He gets the key, and leaves. David Young cuts him off. They fight to the ring and Young throes him back in. He kills him with a chair, and gives the key to Kenney. Kenney opens the box, and all the weapons are green. Kenney ducks, and Trinity nails Vito again. Kenney gets a chain, and clotheslines Vito for the win @ 6:50

You ever see Rocky III? What is you prediction for this match? “Pain…for me the recapper.”

Scott Hudson with AMW. They say, if you don’t want to see Americans abuse Canadians, you should turn your head. They will take out Team Canada and beat down Scott D’Amore. Next week, AMW vs. XXX in a best of 3 for a shot at the Tag Team Titles.

Match #5Team Canada (Williams and Rude) w/Scott D’Amore vs. America’s Most Wanted (Harris and Storm) Country whiipin’ match

AMW charges the ring, and they attack. Harris and Williams in the ring, as Storm and Rude battle on the floor. Williams still has his jacket on, Harris with a sweet delayed suplex to Williams and he then rips his jacket off. Rude breaks up Harris’s attempt to beat on Williams with the strap. Rude beats down Harris, but Harris tries to fight back but eats an elbow. Rude rips a strap off the ropes and beats the tar out of Harris. Williams in and they choke him out. Cheap shot by D’Amore and Williams chokes away at Harris. Williams whips away at Harris and the welts are setting in. Tag to Rude. Harris sent off the ropes..double clothesline and both men are down. Tag to Williams and Storm. Storm press slams Williams to Rude, and is in control. Harris’s back is torn up. Storm has a strap and is whipping away on Williams and Rude. Storm chases D’Amore, and Williams and Harris are in the ring alone. Williams tries the Destroyer…reversed…SPEAR! They set up for the Death Sentence, but D’Amore shoves Harris to the floor. Rude kills Storm with a clothesline to the back of the head and Williams covers for 2. Harris back in and whips away at Rude. Rude misses Harris and hits D’Amore! Full nelson slam by Harris and that gets 2. Harris and Rude to the floor…Storm nails the hangmen’s noose. Tag to Harris…they try the heart Attack, but Rude pulls pulls Harris to the floor. D’Amore nails Storm, but he kicks out. Rude tries to help Williams but Storm super kicks him and Harris gets a roll up for the win @ 8:33.

D’Amore tries to run, but Storm drags him back to the ring. They start to whip him, then pull his jacket up. Here is the rest of Team Canada and they beat down AMW. D’Amore starts to whip AMW, but XXX runs down and saves AMW.

Old school whippin match. Very intense, and DAMN those welts looked bad!

Scott Hudson with The Naturals. They say it doesn’t matter who they face, they are the champions. They say AMW is supposed to be the best, and they beat them. They beat XXX as well. They could careless who they face, because they will win.

Tenay and West shill next week and the web site. Next week, 20 man INTERNATIONAL Gauntlet to get ONE X Division champion. AMW vs. XXX in match #1 of a best of 3 series for a title shot at the Naturals. Team Canada vs. 3LK for a shot at the Naturals. Kenney brings out David Young. He says he owes him. Young says he can beat Gilbertti and wants the chance.

Scott Hudson with Kid Kash and Dallas. Kash says he deserves the revenge. AJ is the reason TNA suspended him. Kash says tonight he will show why he is the original moneymaker.

Match #6 Kid Kash w/Dallas vs. AJ Styles

Kash takes a sign from a like 10-year-old girl and rips it up. An old lady had another and said “Try this one Kid ASS!” BWAHAHAHHA!

Kash has a rib/back brace on and is apparently hurt. A nice exchange to start and they go to the mat. Sweet series of reversals, as they have a counter for each other’s moves. Kash with a stiff elbow to AJ, but gets a hip toss then an arm drag. Another arm drag and Kash to the floor. Kash talks to Dallas, and Kash gets into the ring holding his back. Lock up, and Kash takes AJ to the corner, misses a punch and AJ chops away. Kash to the other corner, corner Drop kick by AJ, then a clothesline. Slam by AJ, HIGH knee drop to Kash for 2. AJ flips over Kash and gets a sweet standing drop kick. AJ to the apron, he fights with Kash, goes to the springboard, and flies back onto Dallas! AJ is up, and Kash sling shots over and gets a RANA to AJ on the floor. AJ back in, and Kash gets a big clothesline off the top for 2. AJ is pulled to his feet, but Kash takes him down again and gets a 2 count. Kash now locks in a surfboard, then adds the reverse chin lock. He kicks AJ off then covers for 2. AJ’s head bounced off the mat there. AJ up, MISSES the Pele’ kick and Kash gets an Ankle lock! AJ kicks his way out of that, but Kash tosses AJ to the floor. Dallas levels AJ with a clothesline, and is rolled in and Kash gets 2. Kash works over AJ with kicks now, tries the Moneymaker, but AJ fights out as the crowd comes alive. Kash gets a version of the Moneymaker into a shoulder breaker for 2. AJ tries to fight back now, they fake each other out and double clothesline! Both men are down. They are up and punch it out, 2 clotheslines by AJ, and Kash is in trouble. ASAI MOONSAULT in to the Reverse DDT sidestepped, AJ off the ropes and GETS IT THIS TIME! Kash kicks out at 2. AJ tries the Suplex/neck breaker but Kash reverses it and gets a roll up for 2. RANA by Kash, then a tornado DDT gets 2! Kash takes off the back brace, but AJ gets a SICK sounding Enziguri! PELE’ KICK! They try to duke it out as they get to their feet, but Kash hot shots AJ. Kash flies for the 450-drop kick across the ring and almost LANDS ON HIS HEAD! Kash is jacked. Dallas is in and levels AJ with a boot and Kash gets 2. Kash off the ropes, discus clothesline finishes Kash off @ 14:23.

Dallas in and beats down AJ. Lynn and Sabin are down to save AJ. Shane and Kazarian are out as well. XXX and Team Canada now! It’s broken down at the Asylum! The locker room empties and we fade to black.

That match had some problems, but a lot of great points that will make you overlook that. Kash was on, but seemed to be legit hurt going in the ring. Great effort by both guys to put on a solid WRESTLING match.

Good show this week. The crowd was DEAD again for a lot of the stuff, but I will blame that on the idiot that put the Raven vs. Sabu match first. The Dusty vs. Russo stuff is annoying, but the segment was pretty well done, so I will wait to see where it goes.
