411’s TNA Global Impact Report .07.31.06

August 1, 2006 | Posted by Dan Zurbruegg

  • Jeremy Borash, alongside Christy Hemme, welcomes us to Global Impact. They hype up this week’s Impact, and announce this week’s Global Impact match, A1 versus Truth. They tell us that Hard Justice will be live on PPV Sunday, August 13th. Nash will be facing Chris Sabin, and the winner will earn an X-Division Championship shot. Borash brings of the Girls of Action special that aired on Spike TV last Thursday, and featured Hemme, as well as Gail Kim. Christy thought everyone did a great job. They finish up with another quick hype for Impact this Thursday.
  • A promo for the Latin American Exchange is shown. They’re going to make a statement at Hard Justice by winning the Tag Team Championship against Styles and Daniels.
  • A1 vs. Ron “The Truth” Killings
Killings enters, and goes into the crowd and starts rapping. This is such a waste of time; he must have rapped for a good three minutes. He makes a John Cena reference, but I couldn’t really make out what he said. Killings finally makes his way to the ring, climbs the turnbuckle, and taunts to the crowd. A1 attacks him from behind and sends him to the outside, which takes us to a quick commercial break.

They air a promo for the Sting/Jarrett NWA World Heavyweight Championship match at Hard Justice.

We’re back with A1 stomping away at The Truth. A1 sends him into the turnbuckle and chokes Killings with his foot. He then taunts and picks The Truth up. A1 delivers a right hand, which knocks Killings to his knees. Another right hand knocks Truth all the way down, and A1 then uses the ropes to choke Killings. Ron gets to his feet, but A1 slams his head into the top turnbuckle. A “let’s go Killings” chant starts up, as A1 keeps delivering right hands. Killings gets to his feet and A1 hits a right hand. The Truth ducks a right hand and fights back with some rights of his own, and then spins and hits a big right hand, knocking A1 to the mat. A1 reverses an Irish Whip into the corner into one of his own, but Killings flips over him, avoids a clothesline, and delivers a heel kick, which is good for two. The two get to their feet, and Killings hits a kick to the gut and then nails the Scissors Kick for the victory at roughly 3 minutes.

    Winner: Ron “The Truth” Killings

  • Bobby Roode promo is aired. He’ll headline shows, raise PPV buys, put ratings through the roof. No one’s ever been on the rise as much as Bobby Roode. Next week the interview process begins.
  • Borash and Hemmy finish up Global Impact, and Eric Young interrupts. He says he has to “speak to his movement”, and confuses Borash and Hemme. Young leaves and the two hype of Impact for one last time.
  • We finish up with a promo for Impact.

Overall: It was short and sweet, but the Truth/A1 match was tedious and ended quickly.
