WWE MAIN EVENT 12.9.14

Todd Philips and Renee Young welcome us from the studio tonight. They go over Tables, Ladders, Chairs, and Stairs.

They go over the history of the TLC match and transition to Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose. They show highlights of the Bray Wyatt and Dean Ambrose feud. The feed freezes for a second and we get a monologue from Bray Wyatt. We also get Dean’s words and they show the two of them beating the hell out of each other. The feed also keeps cutting in and out for some reason.

They go over the Nikki Bella and AJ feud. They show their match from Survivor Series.

Divas Championship: Nikki Bella vs. AJ Lee(c)
This match is from Survivor Series. AJ and and Nikki stare each other down. Brie makes out with AJ and Nikki nails her with an elbow. Nikki quickly lifts AJ with the Rack Attack. 1..2..3.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Nikki Bella @ 1:00 via pin
MATCH THOUGHTS: This match was nothing to rate really. It progressed the story well and it went by quickly. I really have nothing to complain about even I’m not a Nikki Bella fan. This worked well for what it was.

Nikki Bella says she is sick of AJ’s sob story. Nikki Bella has worked harder and is a real divas champion. Nikki says that forever behind those pathetic eyes AJ will be that pathetic little girl from New Jersey. AJ comes in and hits a thesz press on Brie. Nikki decides to retreat instead of facing AJ head-on. We go to a commercial break.

We return with J & J security attacking Dolph. Ziggler tries to fight back but Harper nails him and they hold him down for Seth. Seth blasts him with the Money in the Bank briefcase.

IC Title: Luke Harper vs. Dolph Ziggler(c)
This match is from Raw a few weeks ago. Luke Harper kicks Dolph in the head immediately. 1..2..kickout. Luke lifts Dolph again for a sit down powerbomb dropping him. 1..2..kickout. Luke corners Dolph and Irish whips him from the corner. Both men recover slowly and Luke lifts Dolph again calling for another powerbomb. Dolph fights out with some punches, but Luke reverses that into a discus lariat. 1..2..3.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Luke Harper @ 2:00 via pin
MATCH THOUGHTS: This match was very short, and entertaining at the same time. I do think they had better rematches when they got more time! However, I think their TLC match could be a show stealer. Still, this match was entertaining despite the short duration.

They go over Harper defending his championship in a ladder match this Sunday against Dolph! They also mention that Dolph has been winning a lot of late, while also putting over how dangerous Harper is. Later tonight, they will go over the Table match between John Cena and Seth Rollins. We go to another commercial break.

We return and go back to the tag match at Survivor Series with the match in progress. Cena is tagged in and shoulderblocks Kane down. Cena lifts him for the protoplex and calls for the five knuckle shuffle. John Cena hits the AA, but Rollins comes out of nowhere and hits the curb stomp breaking up the pinfall. Both Rowan and Harper are tagged in. Rowan tosses Harper around like a ragdoll and hits a corner splash. He follows that up with some headbutts and drives Kane off the apron. Rowan hits the spin kick on Harper. Kane gets into the ring and goes for the Chokeslam. Rowan fights out, only for Rollins to hit a diving knee. Harper hits a discus lariat afterwards. 1..2..3. Rowan is eliminated and that leaves Big Show as the legal man. John Cena slowly recovers, but is laid out by a Big Show punch. Rollins quickly pins John Cena. 1..2..3. Big Show shakes hands with Triple H and leaves the arena.

We cut back to the studio, and Renee says Erick Rowan took exception to Big Show betraying them. Phillips caught up with Rowan backstage 2 weeks ago. Phillips says Rowan has an IQ of a 143, a classic guitar expert, and a wine maker. Rowan simply says Big Show is a bully. Rowan hands Phillips a solved rubix cube.

Big Show says Rowan is damn right. Show is a bully because he can be. That’s exactly why Show is a bully. Show has to be a bully, because of all the people that betrayed him. Show says the fans sold out on him. Show just cares about hurting people now and he’ll shown Rowan what kind of mean nasty giant he really is.

Big Show vs. Erick Rowan
This match is from Raw. Rowan immediately charges Show and starts pounding him into the ground. Show retreats to the outside of the ring and suckers Rowan in. Show runs over Rowan with a clothesline and works the arm with some kicks. Rowan keeps fighting back, which infuriates Show further. Show hits him with some sledgehammer blows. Show taunts Rowan and keeps stomping him down. Rowan recovers, but Show forces him back down with some punches. Show lifts Rowan and hits a short arm clothesline. Show grabs Rowan again and grounds him in a chinlock. Rowan slowly fights to a vertical base and ducks a clothesline. Rowan hits a few clotheslines of his own and hits a body splash. Rowan sends Show over the top with a clubbering clothesline. Rowan grabs show and hits him with a sledgehammer blow. Show fights back and reverses a whip into the steel stairs. Show grabs the stairs and drops them into Rowan’s back.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Erick Rowan @ 4:00 via DQ
MATCH THOUGHTS: JBL was really obnoxious in trying to put over the Big Red nickname. Nevertheless, the match wasn’t that bad for a big man match. These two put on a better match than I expected. Rowan isn’t the best in the ring, but he is starting to improve. A victory over Big Show would be huge for him, and this match may be better than people expect at TLC.

Renee says this will be the first ever stairs match. Next, we will find out who walked away with slammies last night.

We go to Seth Rollins taking a slammy on behalf of Sting. After that, they quickly shift to Ricky Steamboat presenting match of the year. Team Cena and Team Authority get match of the year, and Dolph accepts. Dolph thanks the fans for the award. Booker T. presents superstar of the year to Roman Reigns who says you can believe that he’s taking anyone at the top out. They’re going to look at John Cena and Seth Rollins rivalry next.

They return from commercial and go into Cena almost beating Lesnar. Cena says he should be holding the championship until that jackass Rollins ruined it. Rollins says he is the future and they show a montage of him kicking people’s heads in. Cena says Rollins’ stupid decision frustrated him. Cena says he will fight to get a crack at Lesnar. Cena says he wants to fight Seth Rollins, but the anonymous GM says Cena will forfeit his title shot if Rollins beats him at TLC in a table match. Rollins and the remnants of the authority lay out Cena. Rollins, J & J security lift Cena powerbombing him through a table. They end the montage with Rollins laying out Cena multiple times.

They transition from the Tables match to running down the entire card for TLC. They go over Kane and Ryback briefly in a chairs match. After that, they go into Show and Rowan in a stairs match. The next match they discuss is AJ Lee and Nikki Bella in a rematch for the Divas Championship. The Usos will try to recapture the Tag Team Championship against The Miz and Damien Mizdow. Harper will defend the IC Championship in a ladder match against Dolph. Lastly, Dean Ambrose will face off with Bray Wyatt in a TLC match.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This was a recap heavy edition of Main Event. It was nice that they showed entire matches that pertained to the feud when discussing them. I cannot really recommend any of the matches however, since we have seen them before. Nonetheless, a good refresher before TLC this Sunday.
