Report by Brad Jennette, EXCLUSIVELY for www.411wrestling.com
The video rolls, the pyro hits and we are TAPED FROM BALTIMORE … it’s WWE Smackdown for May 15, 2003.
Vince McMahon hit the ring to start the show and got on the mic. He claimed Mr.. America is Hogan again. He said Mr.. America is a liar and a greedy bastard because he is getting two salaries at once. He gave an open challenge to anyone who can rip off Mr.. America’s mask at Judgment Day. The FBI came out and offered to do the deed for Vince. He was hesitant to do business with them so they showed a highlight video called the FBI Hit List. Vince agreed to take their offer into consideration.
Chuck Palumbo v. Rikishi
I guess this was payback for the video the FBI just showed. Rikishi dominated the beginning of the match until Stamboli distracted Rikishi and allowed Palumbo to hit a superkick. Palumbo missed another superkick and Rikishi took over again until Stamboli got on the apron and distracted Rikishi AGAIN. Palumbo then hit another superkick and got the pin.
Winner: Chuck Palumbo (D-)
Brock ran down and gave Palumbo an F5 after the match. Methinks Brock didn’t like getting locked in by that forklift last week.
Backstage, Brock ran into Steph. She told him how dangerous his stretcher match might be at Judgment Day.
Torrie came down and teased the Judgment Day bikini contest by showing off her bikini.
Backstage, Stephanie walked into her office and found two sets of roses. One was red and yellow and from Hulk Hogan. The other was red, white and blue and from Mr.. America. Vince showed up and threw the flowers against the wall in a fit of rage.
Cruiserweight title match: Matt Hardy vs. Tajiri
This was an OK back and forth match with a fairly solid pace. Tajiri makes the comeback with kicks and a handspring, and another one for Shannon. Springboard roundhouse kick gets two. They head up and Tajiri turns it into the Tarantula, but stops to go after Crash and gets his Fate Twisted at 4:07. Totally meaningless match.
Winner: Matt Hardy (C+)
After the match, Matt got on the mic and said he would be the one to unmask Mr.. America. Tajiri then dove onto him to brag about being the guy to unmask Mr.. America, and gets hit by a flying Tajiri afterwards.
Backstage, Eddie talked some smack to the Kurt Angle’s picture he and Chavo stole last week. He mentioned Chavo was injured and he was going to go at Team Angle alone. The picture had a funny sombrero drawn on it too.
Backstage, Steph decided to leave the arena to let Vince handle things. She saw Mr. America and gave him a thank you kiss on the cheek for the roses.
John Cena v. Chris Benoit
Cena cut a rap before the match and said he was going to unmask Mr.. America. This was a good match with Cena focused on the arm of Benoit. Benoit almost made a comeback but the FBI got involved and Cena took over again. Cena got several near falls and submission holds on Benoit until Benoit slipped out of a powerslam and hit a dropkick. Benoit then took over and hit a lariat and a german suplex. Benoit went up top, hit the flying headbutt and went for the cover but the FBI ran in and caused the DQ. Spanky and Rhyno ran in and a six man brawl broke out between the FBI and the faces.
Winner by DQ: Chris Benoit (B-)
Piper’s Pit
Piper got on the mic and said HE would be the one to unmask Mr.. America after he beat him in a match. Mr.. America was the guest again this week. Piper and Mr.. America made fun of each other about how old they are. Piper claimed Hogan has never pinned him. Piper turned his attention to a kid in the front row and kept taunting him. Mr.. America tried to defend the kid but got attacked by Piper. Mr.. America laid out Piper but wasn’t able to drop the leg because O’Haire took Mr.. America out with a chair shot. The heels went for the mask but the fan ran in the stopped them. Piper attacked the fan but then pulled off an artificial leg a la Duce Bigalow! Piper was totally mortified.
Backstage, Vince got all on Piper and O’ Haire’s case about pulling off the kids leg. O’Haire was worried they might get sued.
Shelton Benjamin vs. Eddie Guerrero
This was a quick match with lots of back and forth action in a short amount of time. Eddie came back from a big powerbomb from Shelton with a dropkick and some lariats. Eddie hit the rolling vertical suplexes on Benjamin, but Charlie Haas ran down to the ring with a ladder. This was enough of a distraction for Shelton to recover and hit a superkick for the pin.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin
Eddie smashed the picture of Kurt over Benjamin’s head for revenge.
Backstage, Vince got onto Piper case for pulling off the kids leg. Vince then decided to make it Piper vs Mr.. America at Judgment Day.
Sable came out and showed her bikini. What more can they do now that both of them have shown off their bikini’s?
Rey Mysterio was backstage for a special interview. He promised to come back and win the cruiserweight title. Big Show then showed up, attacked Rey, and kidnapped him. After a commercial break, Show brought Rey to the ring with a stretcher in tow. Show tried to put Rey on the stretcher but Rey fought him off and hit him with a 619. Rey tried a springboard but Show caught him and hit a samoan drop. Brock ran out and attacked Show with the stretcher. Brock hit and F5 and the show ended.
End of Show.
