The video rolls, the pyro hits and we are TAPED FROM ORLANDO … it’s WWE Smackdown for June 12, 2003.

They show starts with a recap of last weeks cruiserweight title main event. Rey Mysterio defeated Matt Hardy to win the gold.

Cruiserweight Title Match: Rey Mysterio vs Matt Hardy
Rey comes out first to a nice pop. Then we cut to the backstage area where Matt is berating Shannon and Crash. He blames them for losing his title last week and says they are not allowed at ringside. He then punches Shannon in the face, and throws Crash into some stage equipment! Matt rules all! MATT FACTS: Matt is too handsome to wear a mask like Rey. This match was almost as good as last week main event. Rey went for a 619 early in the match but Matt was able to narrowly avoid it and kick out at 2. Matt tried a neckbreaker off the top rope but Rey countered it to a super bulldog. Matt came back and hit a side effect for 2. Later in the match, Rey went for a leapfrog but Matt held onto the ropes and Mysterio hit the ground and re-injured his groin. Matt took advantage of the match and hit a HUGE Splash Mountain for a 2 count. Matt went for the Twist of Fate but Rey held onto the ropes and hit the West Coast Pop from the top turnbuckle for the pinfall.
Winner and STILL Cruiserweight Champion: Rey Mysterio

Piper’s Pit
Roddy Piper and Sean O’Haire come out to the first ever International edition of Piper’s Pit. The flags of Mexico and Japan are set up in the ring as well as some foods from both countries. Piper introduces the WWE Tag-Team Champions, Eddie Guerrero and Tajiri who come out once again in a low-rider. Piper asks Eddie if O’Haire can hold one of the belts. Eddie says O’Haire can hold his maracas. Piper offers Tajiri some sushi and O’Haire finally gets to hold one of the belts. Piper says they’re keeping the belt and Tajiri can’t have it back. Tajiri drinks some saki and spits it in Piper’s face a la the Green Mist. Eddie and Tajiri beat up O’Haire and Piper until they get the belt back.

Backstage, Stephanie McMahon and Sable are in Stephanie’s office. Stephanie can’t find Zack Gowen’s contract and Sable doesn’t know where it is either. Sable mentions she has seen the US title and Steph announces she is indeed bringing the US Title back. Works for me.

Torrie Wilson comes out and is YOUR guest ring announcer.

A-Train vs Billy Gunn
PK is totally marking out right now! Billy Gunn comes out and is doing his Mr. Ass routine. Gunn starts out on fire with some big clotheslines, knocking A-Train all over the place. Billy celebrates a little too early and A-Train knocks him goofy with a bicycle kick. A-Train dominates with some power moves setting up the Derailer. Train lifts Gunn gun up but Billy counters it into the Fameasser for the pin! Good to see some new old blood back in the swing of things. Torrie comes in the ring and slaps Billy Gunn’s ass and he returns the favor. Billy and Torrie left arm in arm.
Winner: Billy Gunn

Earlier today, Brock arrives to the arena and plays it up to the fans a bit.

Undertaker vs Johnny Stamboli
I really dig the FBI. I don’t know who else does, but this is my recap and I’ll cheer whoever I want. Taker starts off by pounding away on Stamboli and then going after Nunzio on the outside. Taker pulls Nunzio out from underneath the ring but Johnny gets a baseball slide and the FBI plays the numbers game only to be to get taken out by Taker. Johnny gets a dropkick but misses the top rope legdrop. Taker goes for the chokeslam but Palumbo gets on the apron. Taker pushes Stamboli into Palumbo and then gets the Last Ride for the pinfall. Palumbo gets in the ring and Taker gets him set up for the Last Ride but Nunzio stops it with a nice chairshot.
Winner: Undertaker

Backstage, Mr. America hypes up Zack for the arm wrestling contest.
Steph comes out to oversee the arm wrestling contest. Sable ALSO comes out for the arm wrestling contest. Mr. America and Zack Gowen come out next followed by Vince. Mr. America challenges Vince to arm wrestle him. Vince refuses but Sable whispers something into his ear that causes him to change his mind. Vince accepts with 2 stipulations. The arm wrestling match will not be for Zach contract and when Mr. America loses he has to leave the building. Mr. America and Vince lockup and begin to arm wrestle. Mr. America is about to win when Sable grabs their hands and stops them. Stephanie says she will DQ Vince if Sable touches either competitor again. Mr. America and Vince lock up again, and as Mr. America is about to win again, Sable drops her top and Mr. America sees her breasts and allows his hand to get slammed to the mat!
Vince makes Mr. America and Stephanie both leave the ring as its now time for Vince vs Zack. Vince and Zack lock up and they go back and forth a bit. Zack gets full control is about to win the contest when Vince kicks Zack’s fake leg out from underneath him! AWESOME! Vince slams Zack’s hand down and celebrates. Vince asks Zack if he is going to cry and then kicks him out of the ring. Vince mocks Zack’s condition as he heads up the ramp.

Mr. America is shown consoling Gowen in the back. Big Show walks in the room and says he has two words for Gowen, forget it.

Christ Benoit/Rhyno vs The Basham Brothers w/Shaniqua (Linda Miles)
Very entertaining match. The Basham Brothers are pretty fun to watch (especially Doug) and I’m sure they can become players in the Smackdown tag team division. Linda “Shaniqua” Miles is totally decked out in leather and has a whip! Things broke down at the end, as Shaniqua distracted Benoit as he went for the flying headbutt and it caused him to miss. Benoit was able to recover and go for a German suplex but Rhyno accidentally punched Benoit in the face. Doug hits some sort of leaping head scissors takedown on Benoit and gets the upset pin. Afterwards, Benoit gets pissed off at Rhyno and thinks about attacking him but he doesn’t in the end.
Winners: Basham Brothers.

Backstage, Rhyno says he made a mistake but Benoit is having no part of that.

Funaki vs John Cena
Cena gets on the mic and raps about having more cork in his bat than Sammy Sosa. Cena also makes fun of Funaki’s mullet and talks about how Funaki’s pants are already strangling him. Cena then makes fun of Michael Cole and his love for boy bands. Cena is GOLD! Funaki does a rap of his own and calls Cena UGLY. Cena takes Funaki head clean off with a sick clothesline to interrupt the rap. Quick match with Cena dominating Funaki. Cena hits the F-U for the victory in under a minute.
Winner: John Cena

Kurt Angle comes out to the ring and says he can’t wait for the main event because he will be facing the winner very soon. He then calls out Team Angle. Team Angle comes out and says they were sick last week, sick of being in Kurt’s shadow. OUCH! Shelton says Kurt wasn’t there for them during their ladder match. They say Kurt was the reason they lost the belts because he wasn’t there to help them. They say they’re tired of hearing they suck. Kurt tells them why the fans still chant “You suck!” to him, it’s cause he earned it, Team Angle didn’t. Kurt calls them “Team Whaaaaangle” and mocks like he’s crying. Charlie Haas says that he and Shelton Benjamin are now co-captains of Team Angle and Kurt is nothing more than a member. Kurt asks since he’s their founder if he’s still allowed to make decisions. Haas says yes. Kurt then kicks Haas out of Team Angle. Benjamin complains about it so Kurt kicks him out too. Kurt starts a “na na na, hey hey, goodbye” chant which the fans enjoy to sing-a-long. This was a really great segment. Kurt is still god and Team Angle are still the apostles.

Backstage, Haas and Benjamin confront Kurt and ask to keep Team Angle together. Kurt says they’re still out of the team. Haas and Benjamin attack Angle and leave him laying.

WWE Heavyweight Title: Brock Lesnar vs Big Show
Show dominates the beginning of the match hitting some hard chops and stomps. Show takes Brock down and gets a single leg Boston crab! Lesnar fights it for a bit and then reaches the ropes. Brock ducks a clothesline and hits a german suplex. Brock tries an F5 but can’t keep Show up. Show hits a clothesline and goes for the chokeslam but Brock escapes. Big Show hits a big boot and legdrop and then hits the chokeslam! Show covers….1…2…kick out! Show goes for a SUPER chokeslam off the top rope but Lesnar fights him off and superplexes Big Show onto the mat and the ring imploded! One of the turnbuckles goes shooting off and ref goes tumbling down the mat. A huge “HOLY SHIT” chant breaks out as the show ends. What an ending!!!
Winner: No Contest

End of Show.
