411’s WWE Smackdown Report 09.21.07

We kick the show off with Maria backstage interviewing the Ying Yang Twins about tonight’s wedding. Vince McMahon and Jonathan Coachman enter and Maria congratulates McMahon on his new son and she asks where he is and they say he isn’t there. Coachman gets excited and confuses the Ying Yang Twins with country artists and they say that they like Hornswoggle better than him.

We officially kick the show off right now with the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Batista! Batista gets on the mic and he says he feels so good with his new suit, new shoes, being in HOT-lanta, and once again, he is the World Heavyweight Champion! He was able to overcome the FORMER World Champion Great Khali and a great friend, Rey Mysterio. He tells Rey he loves him and tells him he will be World Champion again some day. But for now, The Great Khali is using his rematch clause against Batista at No Way Out…in a Punjambi Prison Match. This brings out Mark Henry for god knows what. Henry tells Batista that he doesn’t care about this celebration, or the Punjambi Prison Match. He does care about next week though, as Undertaker returns to Smackdown in a match against himself. He says he will end Undertaker’s career. He says he might need a warm up tonight against Batista tonight, and he won’t even have Batista put the title on the line because he can take the belt anytime he wants it. Batista says that Henry is as stupid as he is ugly and reminds him that Undertaker whooped his ass at Unforgiven. Batista accepts the match and they stare down.

We’re back and Maria is partying with the Ying Yang Twins and Jeff Hardy comes in and lets the Twins play with the Intercontinental Championship.

Match #1: Jaime Noble vs. Jimmy Wang Yang

They lock up with Noble getting a knee to the gut. Irish whip by Noble but Yang nails the hurricanrana and then a jumping side kick. Chop by Yang and a few punches before being kicked and Noble nails a top rope smash to the arm. Scoop slam by Noble and he begins to work on the arm. Noble locks in a modified arm bar but Yang gets out only to be met with a jumping heel kick by Noble for two. Elbow drop to the arm followed by a arm bar slam. Another arm bar by Noble but Yang fires back with an atomic drop and a kick to the back of the head for two. Yang runs at Noble and Noble locks in another arm bar but Yang gets to the ropes. Whip by Noble and he nails a big boot to Yang. Noble looks in the crowd and he see’s Hornswoggle hat but it’s Shannon Moore! Yang goes to the top rope and nails a crossbody to the outside. Yang throws Noble back in the ring and nails the moonsault for the win! **1/4

Winner: Jimmy Wang Yang via pin fall @ 4:58

In the back, MVP and Matt Hardy are having a competition of throwing a football through a tire. MVP throws the ball and it hits the tire but the ball goes back to MVP and he completes it. Hardy is up and he nails it though two in a row and he goes for the third ball in a row but MVP jumps the ball and intercepts it. Hardy makes a cheating reference to MVP comparing Bill Belicheck! They begin to argue about a US Title Match but MVP gets Hardy back in the frame of mind of being a team for their upcoming match.

Match #2: Deuce & Domino w/Cherry vs. WWE Tag Team Champions Matt Hardy and WWE United States Champion MVP (non-title match)

Deuce and Hardy kick it off but Hardy tags MVP right away and Deuce jumps MVP but MVP nails an over the head suplex. Tag to Hardy and they look to go for a double elbow but MVP jumps in with a clothesline instead. Swinging neckbreaker by Hardy followed by a tag to Hardy. They agree on a double team but Hardy nails a suplex on Deuce instead. Deuce fights back but MVP nails a drop toe hold. Domino hits MVP and Deuce nails a spinning kick to the back of the head for a two.

We’re back with Domino controlling MVP. Tag to Deuce and he pounds away. Tag to Domino and he nails a kick. Tag to Deuce and Domino sets him up for a suplex and Deuce nails a crossbody in that position! Gets a two count after Hardy breaks it up. Deuce goes for a kick but MVP nails a knee to the face. MVP goes for the tag but Deuce pulls his leg. Enzaguri by MVP! Tag to Domino and Hardy and Hardy takes out Domino with clotheslines and elbows! Back body drop on Deuce. Bulldog/Splash/Clothesline combo to both men by Hardy! Side Effect to Domino! MVP tries to tag himself in but Hardy backs away and Domino fires into MVP. MVP and Hardy argue and push each other and Domino sneaks in with a school boy on Hardy for the win! After the match Hardy and MVP argue and MVP walks out. **1/2

Winners: Deuce & Domino via pin fall on Matt Hardy by Domino @ 9:45

We’re back and Michael Cole introduces Rey Mysterio to the ring for an interview. Cole talks about winning his SummerSlam return match, beating Chavo in an I Quit, and almost winning a World Title Sunday. Rey says it feels great beating back here for the fans and it has been great. He congratulates Batista on winning the strap, but he will become World Champion again. Cole goes over winning the title and having Chavo cost him the title and putting him on the shelf. Rey says that he got redemption on Chavo. JBL interrupts and saying Cole is giving him a love fest of questions. JBL says he is a disgrace to this show and country. Rey says he doesn’t think so and he forgets that Rey retired his ass. JBL gets pissed and Rey challenges him to a match. JBL takes off his coat but says he can’t fight due to his announcing contract. But he did find someone to fight Rey….Finlay! Finlay grabs the mic and slams it into Rey’s face. He gets his shillelagh but doesn’t hit Rey with it and leaves.

The Ying Yang Twins party with Jimmy Wang Yang in the back. Carlito is about to get interrupted but Chuck Palumbo chases him away with his bike. 36

We get some diva search crap and Jagged Edge meeting up with the WWE diva’s in the back.

Match #4: WWE World Heavyweight Champion Batista vs. Mark Henry (non-title)

Henry pounds away to start the match. Batista fires back and nails a big clothesline. Henry shoves Batitsa in the corner though and nails a splash. Another splash by Henry. Scoop slam by Henry and he locks in a headlock and then a modified shoulder lock. Batista gets out of the hold and nails a boot. Top rope shoulder block and a spinebuster by Batista! Great Khali’s music hit and he comes out. Batista goes after him and they brawl. Henry goes outside of the ring and Batista spears him. That gives Khali the opening to take down Batista. He throws Batista into the steps and then throws him in the ring. Big Boot by Khali and then the Khali Vice Grip. Khali Bomb! Batista is laid out. *

Winner: Batista via disqualification @ 3:20

Now we are ready for the wedding and lots of superstars from all three brands are here. We also have some legends. Hornswoggle comes from under the ring with his own chair and a phone book to sit on the chair with!

We’re back and the rest of the ceremony participants come out. Next out Kristal comes out. I wonder what Chuck Palumbo is thinking right now during this wedding on Smackdown. Kristal trips on the stairs trying to get to the ring and Teddy helps her. Teddy has a gift for Krystal, and that is Jagged Edge and they perform their wedding song. Oh, and their new CD is out this Tuesday at a local Wal-Mart near you. Sorry, I work at Wal-Mart and I gotta plug it. Holla! We are about to finish the wedding but Jillian interrupts. She doesn’t think Jagged Edge was good at all so she wants to give her own performance. She starts singing Mickie James and Candice Michelle take her to the back kicking and screaming. That may have received the biggest pop of the night. Hornswoggle starts attacking Coach during this ad Vince has to sit him down. Funny stuff actually and the whole crowd chants for Hornswoggle. The rev does his thing and Long and Kristal join hands. The rev asks anybody who doesn’t think they should get married and out comes the Godfather and the Ho Train! I miss 1999. Godfather does his ho train routine. Godfather brings up the time he, Long, and Simmons had but Long cuts him off and says he loves Krystal. Godfather says he did not come all the way down to the dirty south to go home alone so Ron Simmons tries to get on the Ho Train but Krystal and Long stop him so they get a ….DAMN! Godfather leaves with the hos and brings a bunch of the male superstars back with him, actually all of them including JBL running from the commentating table! LOL! We get on with the wedding and Long makes his vows. Hornswoggle hits the ring and goes under Krystal’s dress and Coach chases him! They skip to the “I Do’s” and Krystal says “I Do” but Long faints, looking like he had a heart attack. And that’s that.

-After thoughts- Decent show with a nice build towards No Mercy. I love the Hardy/MVP stuff as they may have the best undercard feud I have seen in wrestling since I started watching in 1999. The wedding had some moments with Balls and Duggan’s 2×4 wearing ties, Hornswoggle, and the Godfather. I also hope JBL has one more match in him as they could of hinted at that.
