AAA Guerra de Titanes Receiving High Praise Behind-the-Scenes, Backstage Note on The Undertaker

AAA held its Guerra de Titanes show last week, featuring El Hijo de Vikingo beating Dragon Lee in the co-main event. More details are available from the event in this week’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
According to Dave Meltzer, multiple people from WWE thought the AAA card was one of the best, if not the best, shows that WWE put on this year. Additionally, it was reportedly viewed by WWE sources as a “pure show,” focusing on the crowd and matches and disregarding special effects.
As previously reported, The Undertaker was in attendance for the show and has also been part of the creative team working on AAA since the promotion came under the WWE/TKO umbrella. According to the Observer Newsletter, the creative booking of Guerra de Titanes was handled by both Jeremy Borash and The Undertaker.
Borash and Undertaker reportedly worked with longtime AAA booker and broadcaster, Konnan, and Dorian Roldan on the event. It’s said that they went through Konnan and Roldan to make sure their ideas worked based on AAA history and Mexican wrestling culture.
Additionally, the show drew approximately 249,000, with about 149,000 viewers on WWE’s YouTube channel, and another 100,000 from AAA’s own YouTube channel. The Observer Newsletter reports the show drew about 101,000 viewers for the Spanish feed and 148,000 for the English commentary feed on WWE’s channel.
The Observer also reports that English broadcasters JBL, Corey Graves, and Konnan all recorded their commentary remotely from the U.S. They were not live in attendance at the Arena Guadalajara to perform the broadcast commentary.
AAA has recorded broadcast commentary remotely in the past, but it did not sound as obvious this time around. If fans look closely enough, when showing the ringside area, fans could see the Spanish announcers, but Konnan, Graves, and JBL were visibly not in attendance.
AAA Guerra de Titanes was held last Saturday in Guadalajara, Mexico.
