AEW Reportedly Lost At least $30 Million on Fight Forever Video Game

A new report has shed light on how the Fight Forever video game led to massive financial loss for AEW. All Elite Wrestling launched Fight Forever in June 2023. However, despite Tony Khan repeatedly stating his desire to venture into the video game space, we haven’t had a sequel to the game.
This is because the company reportedly lost at least $30 million due to development delays and underwhelming sales, Mike Straw, the executive editor of Insider Gaming, recently revealed in a YouTube video.
The game was reportedly set for a launch in 2022, but several external and internal delays pushed the release to June 29, 2023. Straw added that Fight Forever sold only half of what AEW originally expected.
“We sold about half of what we were expecting, leading to a big reason why we lost so much,” Straw noted.
Straw further revealed that the Tony Khan-led wrestling promotion no longer has an agreement with the studio that developed the game, i.e., Yuke’s. However, AEW still owns the game’s engine and has allegedly started approaching other companies for a brand-new wrestling game.
Straw, though, revealed that he reached out to AEW sources to confirm if that was true, and he was told that they didn’t “****ing know anything about it.”
