AEW Alumnus ‘The Butcher’ Andy Williams Passes Away After Medical Emergency

Andy Williams, best known for his time in AEW as The Butcher, has passed away following his medical emergency at an independent show on Saturday. As noted, Williams collapsed at the Enjoy Five-Year Anniversary event and was rushed to the hospital. TMZ has confirmed that he passed away following the incident according to the The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office. Details on the incident have still yet to be revealed. He was 48 years old.

Williams initially trained at Renegade Wrestling Association but was forced to take time off, eventually returning to training via Josh Barnett and then Grapplers Anonymous, the latter under his friend and eventual tag team partner Jesse “The Blade” Guilmette. He began working on the independent scene in 2015 and competed at events like the first Joey Janela’s Spring Break in March of 2017.

The Butcher and The Blade began as a tag team during ths time, and the two debuted for AEW in November of 2019, allied with The Bunny. They would continue to work there all the way until June of this year, when their contracts had expired.

In addition to his work in the ring, Williams was a guitarist and founding member of the metal band Every Time I Die, which began in 1998. The band released nine albums before breaking in up January of 2022.
