AJ Lee’s return to singles competition proved to be memorable, as she defeated Becky Lynch to capture the Women’s Intercontinental Championship in front of her home fans in Chicago, Illinois, at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026.
Unable to put AJ away despite dominating the majority of the first half of the match, Becky Lynch exposed one of the turnbuckles. However, AJ dodged it. Becky again regained control when she nailed a Superplex and locked in the armbar.
As Lynch and Lee continued to battle, referee Jessica Carr tried to put the turnbuckle back. In response, Lynch shoved AJ into Carr and went for a quick rollup. However, Lee kicked out, which frustrated Becky, and the Irish wrestler took out her frustration on Jessica, as she kicked the match official in the head.
Lee then locked in the Black Widow, and Becky tapped out, but it didn’t matter, as the referee was knocked out. The two brawled at ringside, during which Lynch slipped a steel chair into the ring. She DDT’d Lee on it and then executed the Manhandle Slam but could not put AJ away.
The exploded turnbuckle eventually proved to be Becky Lynch’s undoing, as she ran into it during her attempted charge toward Lee, allowing her opponent to lock in the Black Widow and force her to submit.
Following her victory, Lee shared an emotional moment with husband CM Punk backstage.
