AJ Styles On Possible Dominik Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano Match, Says They’re Both Superstars

AJ Styles is a big fan of how Dominik Mysterio has grown as a performer, noting he wasn’t sure about him at first but is a believer now. Mysterio is one of WWE’s top heels and the current AAA Mega Champion. He currently appears to be on a collision course with El Grande Americano, who has become incredibly over in AAA and beat Chad Gable — the original Americano — in a mask vs. mask match at AAA Noche de Los Grandes.

Styles spoke about the potential match on his Phenomenally Retro podcast and said that both men are superstars. He repeated his sentiment that Mysterio was someone he wasn’t sure about when he first came in as a babyface, but said Mysterio has turned it around since. You can see highlights below:

“Oh, yeah. [Americano’s] a superstar. And so is Dom. Again, we’re having amazing quality matches in AAA based on the fact that Dominik Mysterio is a huge star, the son of Rey Mysterio, and then El Grande Americano.”

On Mysterio’s Character Growth:

“’Dirty’ Dom Mysterio. He grew that mustache out and freaking rocking the mullet. Does it better than anybody. I mean, his character development and everything that he’s put into it? It works. And I’ve said this before, when he first got there I was like, ‘Ehh, I don’t know. I don’t know.’ And then he just blows everybody away. Once he turned on his dad, he turned it all the way up and hasn’t looked back since.”
