Alberto El Patron, More AAA Talents Reportedly Sign WWE Contracts

WWE has acquired AAA, and a new report says that Alberto El Patron and other AAA talent have signed contracts with the company. As previously reported, WWE announced the acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA over WrestleMania weekend. Patron is the current AAA Mega Champion which left people wondering about his status considering his previous issues with WWE and past legal problems. Ernesto Ocampo of Superluchas, which reports on lucha libre, reported late Sunday night that WWE has signed the following AAA talent to contracts:

* Alberto El Patron
* Hijo de Dr. Wagner
* Hijo del Vikingo
* La Parka
* La Hiedra
* Lady Flammer
* Lady Maravilla
* Niño Hamburguesa

Ocampo went on to note early this morning that AAA’s contracts with talent are “of no use to WWE” as WWE’s contracts are “legally distinct” and contain several provisions on topics such as exclusivity, IP rights and more that AAA contacts don’t address.

Patron has been a controversial figure, having been previously fired from WWE in 2014 after assaulting an employee over claims of a racist joke. He returned for a one year-stint from 2015 to 2016 but left again following claims of unhappiness with his position and a violation of the wellness policy. Since then he has been arrested on charges of sexually assault in 2020, though those charges were dropped after a witness did not show up to court, and at one point in 2021 threatened to release footage of his ex-fiance Saraya, then with WWE, that would get her fired if she continued to talk about him.
