AMC Reportedly Emerges as Potential New Home for TNA Wrestling

As previously reported, TNA Wrestling has been shopping its media rights for a new broadcast television deal. Now, according to a new report by the The Takedown on SI.com has an update on the deal, including the AMC Network emerging as a possible new broadcast partner for TNA Wrestling.

Alba reports that, per TV industry sources, AMC has emerged as a potential landing spot for TNA. The network is best known for its hit cable TV shows, including Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and The Walking Dead. However, AMC has never aired wrestling programming before.

Back in 2014, there were briefly rumors of AMC acquiring WWE and merging with it, but they were said to be unfounded. A potential deal with AMC, however, could bring more eyeballs and attention to the TNA brand. According to last year’s industry estimates, AMC is available in about 60 million homes, which is double than the amount of homes for current TNA home AXS TV, which was said to be available in a little more than 30 million homes asa of 2023.

AMC currently has no affiliation with WWE. It was recently reported that both A&E and The CW also emerged as potential broadcast partners with TNA. The CW airs WWE programming in the form of NXT. Also, WWE programming airs on A&E with the WWE Superstar Sunday block, airing such programs as Biography: WWE Legends, WWE Rivals, and WWE LFG.

TNA Wrestling currently has a strong co-promotional partnership with WWE in the form of the NXT and TNA crossover, which is still ongoing. Meanwhile, AMC currently falls under the AMC Networks umbrella, primarily owned by the James Dolan family. Dolan is also the executive chairman and CEO of Madison Square Garden Sports and MSG Entertainment, which oversees the venue’s operations, along with the New York Knicks and Rangers.

Other networks that fall under the AMC Networks umbrella are BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV, and We TV. It’s unknown how a possible broadcast partnership with TNA Wrestling and AMC might alter TNA programming, or if TNA Impact might have to begin airing on a different nighht.

The Takedown on SI also reports that high-ranking television industry sources indicated that TNA is expected to announce a new media rights deals by the end of 2025 if not sooner. When reaching out to TNA officials about when a new deal might be announced, the company stated that there are no further updates at the moment.
