Arn Anderson Discusses Who Could Refuse a Finish in WCW
On the latest episode of ARN, Arn Anderson and Paul Bromwell covered March 1997 in WCW, including Scott Hall’s account of calling Roddy Piper out at a bar before SuperBrawl for not wanting to return the favor and get pinned by Hulk Hogan. Anderson explained why only a handful of people in the company could have taken that position, and gave his verdict on creative control as a concept. You can check out his comments below:
Arn Anderson on Who Could Actually Refuse a Finish:
“That thing with Hogan and Piper, there’s only a couple of people could have got away with that. Bischoff was the boss obviously, at the time. If I would have said, ‘I’m not putting Hogan over, I’m not going to put Piper over,’ they’d have said, ‘Fine, get your bag, you’re fired.’ And anybody else, virtually. Only a couple of people. That’s where that creative liberty comes in. That’s your safety net for anything that you don’t feel like you should do. I wish that would have never came up.”
On If Creative Control Was Good For the Business:
“I think the business would have been just fine without ever doing it.”
