– As previously reported, multiple outlets yesterday were reporting that Endeavor gave back what’s believed to be near full control of WWE’s creative product back to WWE Chief Creative Officer Triple H (nee Paul Levesque), with Vince McMahon reportedly no longer being involved in the creative side of things. Also, it was said that the news was boosting morale with the locker room, with Triple H’s fingerprints bringing together positive changes to the on-air creative in recent weeks. Dave Meltzer reported additional details on the story on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.
According to Meltzer, it was described to him that “Vince has backed off on creative, for now.” However, Meltzer also stated on McMahon, “He still has the power where if he wants to change something, he will, but right now, he’s pretty much backed off on that.” It’s unknown why Endeavor opted to let Triple H take back the creative reins and why McMahon is backing off at the moment.
Meltzer continued on the current WWE on-air product, “What you’re seeing right now is what I was told, 99%, or whatever, 95%, Paul Levesque.” It was also noted that McMahon was still “around” and there will probably still be input from McMahon for “main event programs moving forward.” Meltzer added, “For right now, it is mostly the Paul Levesque show as far as like what’s going on with TV and everything.”
Meltzer also indicated that for whatever reason McMahon is backing off the creative side of things, the Executive Chairman of the Board “still has the power” to change things if he wants. Following the completion of the merger of WWE and UFC into TKO Group Holdings last month, McMahon became the new Executive Chairman of the Board of TKO. Ari Emanuel is the acting CEO of both TKO and Endeavor.
