Backstage Note On Why Royce Keys Didn’t Go To WWE NXT

A new report has details on why Royce Keys didn’t debut on NXT when he arrived in WWE. Keys made his debut at the Royal Rumble. He has not yet made an appearance on Raw or Smackdown since.

Fightful Select reports that they asked for more details around Keys’ arrival in WWE and were told that WWE was “adamant” that Keys be on the main roster instead of NXT. Keys is not the only talent this has done with; Penta and Rey Fenix among others had similar things happen.

The report notes that in addition to his being on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast and being scanned for WWE 2K, Keys has been traveling to TV each week and working dark matches. He has also filmed additional content, though there’s no word on what it is. Keys is signed to a multi-year deal and there’s no word on when he will make his TV debut.
