An update on the possibility of AEW running a show at the iconic Madison Square Garden (MSG) in the wake of The Young Bucks and MJF expressing their desires to wrestle at the marquee venue.
In the latest edition of Being The Elite Mailbag, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) were asked to name one venue where they’d love to wrestle, and they responded with Madison Square Garden.
Meanwhile, on X, former AEW World Champion MJF expressed the same in response to a fan discussion started by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp. This led many to wonder if AEW would present a show from MSG in the future.
In this week’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), Dave Meltzer ruled out any such possibility. Meltzer revealed that the Tony Khan-led company has yet to get a date there.
He noted that the company was offered a date during its maiden year, in 2019, but it was ultimately rescinded, and nothing has changed since. He believes that AEW would easily sell out a PPV at MSG, but it’d be wise on their part not to do television shows there due to it being “super expensive” due to venue and union costs.
