Backstage Update on Chris Jericho’s AEW Contract, If He Will Appear at WWE Elimination Chamber

A new report from Fightful Select has an update for fans who might be hoping to see Chris Jericho make a WWE return tonight at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 later tonight. Fightful notes that it’s unlikely the former WWE Champion makes an appearance tonight.
As some are already aware, Chris Jericho is still currently listed on the AEW roster page, meaning he’s likely still under an AEW contract, as the AEW website keeps its roster page fairly up to date. Additionally, it was reported earlier this month by Fightful Select that AEW froze Jericho’s contract.
Today’s update from Fightful also notes that AEW extended Jericho’s current deal past today, due to the time he had taken off. So, that means no Jericho tonight at Elimination Chamber, so he won’t be the mystery crate.
Jericho has not appeared on AEW TV since April 2025, when he informed his Learning Tree branches, Bryan Keith and Big Bill, that he was taking some time off for a while. It’s unknown if and when Jericho will be making his AEW TV return.
