During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier, The Bella Twins (Nikki and Brie Bella) discussed Brie’s long-awaited WWE return, the Super Bowl, and more. Brie Bella returned to the WWE last weekend at the Royal Rumble, competing in the women’s Rumble match, and she reunited with her sister.
Nikki Bella spoke about her sister training hard for her comeback, stating, “Yeah. So, but she’s been training hard all year, as far as in the ring. I mean, in the gym. This is the strongest you’ve ever been.” Her sister, Brie Bella, responded, “Strongest I’ve ever been. Mentally, physically, I’m there. But wrestling for — I was yearning for it, but I hadn’t been training in the ring, but I’ve been wanting to come back. It just wasn’t happening for me.”
When asked what her kids think about her wrestling again, Brie Bella noted, “I mean, they love it. You have to understand my kids, they would see her [Nikki] wrestle last year, and they were like, ‘Dodoo’s the wrestler and mommy is not.’ Like my son goes to me and goes, ‘Don’t you want to challenge yourself? Like be an astronaut or a teacher?'”
Nikki later explained that her nickname, Auntie Dodo, was the result of a rib by Brie Bella’s husband, Bryan Danielson. Nikki explained, “Originally, I was Coco, and that was like a natural name, and I got so excited that naturally I was given the name Coco, and then her husband ruined it all. He convinced Birdie [Brie and Danielson’s daughter] that Coco meant toots, and so she started to call me Dodo as a rib, as a joke. He did that to me.”
When speaking about their Women’s Tag Team Title aspirations, Nikki Bella also added, “So we made a statement this past Monday Night Raw that the Bellas want the tag titles. We’re joining the tag division, but we’re kind of leaving it up in there. You don’t know when we’re going to show back up on RAW, but you got to keep tuning in to Netflix, Monday Night Raw, cuz we’ll be back.”
Nikki Bella also added on WWE Raw airing on Netflix, “Oh my gosh, it’s been so incredible because WWE is so global. I think it’s so neat to have such easy access for our international fans. And what’s cool is our international fans don’t get commercial breaks. So they get to actually see the magic that’s happening in at commercial cuz we all keep obviously wrestling and all the things. So our international audience gets to see all that. It’s been really cool.”
As noted, it remains to be seen when The Bella Twins will begin pursuing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, which are currently held by RHIYO (Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky).
