Perkins hits a back bodydrop on Koslov and a back heel kick to the face on Maskarsky. He rolls Koslov up for 2. Talwar tags in and gets hit with a powerslam for 2. Maskarsky hits Perkins with a bulldog and shoves him to the floor. The blow up doll takes a superkick for Talwar but it’s not enough to keep Koslov from putting him in the Cobra Stretch for the win at 13:10. Fun comedy opener there.

B-BoyVS. Scorpio Sky
B-Boy VS. Scorpio Sky
Before the match Sky washes his hands of blame for Human Tornado’s loss to Joey Ryan on the last show. They rub each other’s heads and lock up to start. Sky catches him with a roll up for 2. He gets another for 2. A third gets 2. B-Boy responds with a backslide for the win at 24:06. The first ten minutes of the match were rather unnecessary but the rest was solid back-and-forth.
Rating: ***

After the match B-Boy asks for a handshake. Sky denies him and goes to the floor where he has a temper tantrum.

Jimmy YangVS. Scott Lost
Jimmy Yang VS. Scott Lost
They lock up and Yang powers Lost to the corner and hits a cheap slap. They chain wrestle until Yang slaps Lost in the back of the head. He opens up with kicks but Lost comes back with a low blow. Yang hops up the ropes and hits Yang Time to a standing Lost for 2. Lost comes back with a crucifix pin for the win at 13:26. The match was decent but never really caught my attention and was actually a bit sloppier than I like to see in a Lost match.

Generico hits him with the Yakuza kick but when he goes for the move on Disco he gets hit with a chokeslam. Scorpio Sky comes out with a box of matza, distracting the referee after Tornado hits Disco with the DND. Ronin takes advantage of the situation by hitting Tornado with a lariat and the DVD for the win at 21:09. This was a little too chaotic and hard to follow but was a lot of spotty fun regardless. I also really enjoyed the finish, as I too would be distracted by a big box of matza.
Rating: ***½

After the match Generico, Quicksilver and Tornado are very upset with Sky. Sky gets on the microphone and says he was starting to feel like he cost Tornado his match on the last show and he wanted to make amends with some matza. Tornado is unappreciative so Sky tries to make up for it by proposing a match between him and Tornado against Generico and Quicksilver, blacks vs. whites. Generico of course considers himself a black Mexican, so Sky re-describes it as former partners vs. former partners. Throughout the whole segment only Dino Winwood knew that the box was full of matza and not crackers.

Kevin Steen comes out to the ring for a promo. He announces that he’s finally lost his virginity. As great as that was it wasn’t as great as being the PWG Champion. So in 2006 his two goals are to win the title again and have sex again. Since winning the title will help him with the sex he’s very, very determined to defeat Chris Sabin tonight in a number one contender match. Looks like Steen is a babyface now.

Kevin SteenVS. Chris Sabin
Kevin Steen VS. Chris Sabin [Number One Contender Match]
Sabin debuts his anime haircut in PWG here and the crowd doesn’t like it. They lock up and Sabin puts on a wristlock as he declares his love for South Park. He puts on Steen on the mat but Steen fights back to a stalemate. Sabin puts on a headlock but Steen comes back with an eye poke. Sabin hits a hurricanrana and Steen bails. Steen tricks Sabin to the floor, fakes a dive and then pokes Sabin’s eyes again. He hits some low-risk moves on the floor and rolls Sabin back into the ring. He hits a clothesline in the corner but Sabin comes back with a crazy hurricanrana. Steen bails and pulls Sabin to the floor. He gets up on the apron so Sabin pulls him down and hits a missile dropkick off of that very same apron! Back in the ring Steen crotches Sabin on the top rope and back elbows him to the floor. He follows Sabin out with a slingshot dive and throws a flyer at him, getting 2 back in the ring. He hits a bodyslam for 2. He puts on a chinlock and kicks Sabin around. He hits a dropkick for 2. He hits an overhead suplex for 2. He hits a back suplex for 2. He hits a German suplex for 2. He sets Sabin up top but Sabin fights him off and hits a missile dropkick. He kicks Steen around and hits an enziguiri. He hits a running sit-out powerbomb for 2. Steen comes back with a backbreaker but Sabin crotches him up top. He hangs Steen in the Tree of Woe and hits two baseball slides for 2. Steen counters a swinging DDT to a backbreaker and hits his crazy neckbreaker for 2. He misses a moonsault but hits the Go Home Driver for 2. They block each other’s finishers and trade dropkicks until Joey Ryan runs in and attacks both men. The referee throws the match out at 18:17. As fun as watching Steen throw out suplexes like they were nothing was the non-finish really hurt this match.
Rating: ***

After the match Ryan gets on the microphone and complains that it’s wrong for PWG would try to have a number one contender match at all. He says he gets to decide who he gives a title shot to and he wants to give it to the sound guy. He approaches the sound guy but he runs away. Sabin and Steen decide to team up to screw with Ryan tonight. Sabin also spikes his hair up, proving once and for all that that haircut was all about looking like a Super Saiyan.

Christopher DanielsVS. Rocky Romero
Christopher Daniels VS. Rocky Romero
Romero kicks off the match with a leg kick. They trade holds on the mat and Romero comes up with a hammerlock. Daniels puts on a headlock but Romero grabs his arm when he goes for a cartwheel. Daniels goes back to the headlock but Romero returns fire with an armdrag. Daniels hits a back bodydrop and the STO. Romero dumps him to the floor and follows him out with a knee kick off the apron. He rams Daniels into the post and rolls him back into the ring. He hits an armbreaker and yanks on the arm. He kicks Daniels’s gut and puts on the cross armbreaker. Daniels gets to the ropes. He puts on the octopus stretch but falls into the ropes. Daniels comes back with an enziguiri and hits a pair of armdrags. He hits a knee kick and the uranage for 2. Romero puts on the cross armbreaker but Daniels gets to the ropes. Romero hits a flying knee for 2. He hits a roundhouse kick for 2. He slaps Daniels across the face and goes for the tiger suplex but Daniels slips in the Last Rites for the win at 16:32. The match was all Romero working the arm, so the finish was a little out of place. Daniels really didn’t sell much at all.

Super Dragon & Davey Richards © VS. Phoenix Star & Zokre [PWG Tag Team Championship Match]
Richards and Star start. Richards puts on a chinlock but Star quickly escapes. Star puts on a front facelock but and gets a tilt-a-whirl into an armbar. He sets Star in the Tree of Woe and Dragon stands on his crotch. Dragon tries to take off Star’s mask but the referee tells him to stop. He hits a backdrop suplex for 2. He puts on the leggy nelson but Star gets to the ropes. Richards tags in and puts on a chinlock. He hits a knee to the gut and a bodyslam. Dragon tags in but Star hits both opponents with climbing kicks. Dragon stops the tag with an elbowdrop and hits the Curb Stomp. Richards tags in and Star makes him crotch Dragon up top. Richards hits Star with a snap suplex and puts on a chinlock. Dragon drags Star to the floor and powerbomb him through a table. Dragon and Richards start fighting on the floor over whether or not that was the right course of action and end up getting counted out at 21:03. I have no idea what they were going for here. What we essentially got was twenty minutes of middling action capped off with a weird finish. Pretty frustrating to me.
Rating: **¼

There is a ton of confusion over whether or not the match is actually over. Dragon and Richards drag Zokre to the concession table and Dragon powerbombs him through it. He powerbombs him through another table and then powerbombs him through the remains of that table. The drag Zokre to the ring where Richards counts him down for 2. Richards hits Zokre with the D.R. Driver on the floor. In the ring a real referee runs in and tries to fast count Zokre down so that he can get some relief but Dragon isn’t buying it. He hits Zokre with the Psycho Driver on the tag title belt and pins him for the three count. A bell rings and the ring announcer announces Richards and Dragon as the champions. Tornado, Quicksilver and Dino Winwood come down to try to get the champs out of the ring but Dragon attacks Dino and Richards goes after Tornado. Eventually Dragon walks to the back and the numbers get the better of Richards. This whole segment was brutal but more so it was just really confusing.

Ryan comes out to the ring on crutches and says the match has to be postponed due to him twisting his ankle when he interfered in the Sabin vs. Steen match. Bosh comes out and calls Ryan a second rate version of himself. While he respects Ryan for his mustache he thinks he’s pathetic. He turns his back on Ryan who hits him with one of the crutches and tells the referee to start the match.

Joey RyanVS. Chris Bosh
Joey Ryan © VS. Chris Bosh [PWG Championship Match]
Ryan starts the match in control. He dumps Bosh to the floor where he hits a bodyslam. He goes for a piledriver but Bosh counters to a backdrop. Ryan rams Bosh’s back into the post and slams him on the floor. He throws Bosh through rows of chairs and rolls him back into the ring. He hits a vertical suplex and a kneedrop to the back. He puts on a chinlock and then sets Bosh up top. He hits a dropkick, knocking Bosh into the Tree of Woe. He pulls back on Bosh’s head from the floor and then hits a backbreaker in the ring for 2. They trade strikes and Bosh puts on a standing chinlock. Ryan hits an electric chair drop into the turnbuckle and a butterfly backbreaker. He puts on a chinlock and hits an elbowdrop. He misses a dropkick and Bosh slugs away. Bosh hits a kneelift and a clothesline. He hits a crossbody and falls to the floor and though he hit Ryan with it Ryan doesn’t fall out of the ring. Bosh pulls him to the floor and climbs the ropes to hit a somersault plancha. Back in the ring Bosh gets 2. He hits the Chris Bosh Special and a back suplex for 2. Ryan shoves Bosh to the floor and follows him out with a suicide dive. Bosh blocks a powerbomb on the floor and botches a spot so Ryan powerbombs him onto the apron. When I say he powerbombed Bosh on the apron I mean he powerbombed Bosh’s head (and only the head) on the apron. Back in the ring Ryan gets 2. He puts on a Boston crab but Bosh gets to the ropes. Bosh comes back with a pair of backbreakers for 2. Ryan hits a northern lights suplex for 2. He sets Bosh up top but Bosh counters the Mustache Ride to a super stunner for 2 when Ryan gets his foot on the rope and bails. They fight up top and fall to the floor. Back in the ring Ryan hits a superkick and then collapses to the floor, clutching his knee. The referee counts him out at 18:00, giving the match to Bosh but not the title. Ryan smiels to reveal that his knee was fine and he got purposely counted out to keep his title. Ryan is a jerk. I’ll give them credit for killing each other but the match was sloppy and Bosh almost legit died. The finish was also incredibly cheap.
Rating: **¾

Ryan gets on the microphone after the match and says his knee feels fine because he’s still PWG Champion. That brings out Steen and Sabin who chase Ryan back into the ring. They slug Ryan around and leg Bosh hit him with the Screwdriver. Steen and Sabin hold Ryan while Bosh brings out an electric shaver. The battery powered machine shaves the handlebars off of Ryan’s mustache. Bosh also shaves a “P” for pussy into Ryan’s chest hair. Winwood comes out and announces that next month it will be a four way title match with Ryan defended the belt against Bosh, Steen and Sabin. The four of them attack each other to end the show, with Ryan standing tall in the end.

The 411BG Says

This was originally slated to be my 100th review, but after reviewing the show I decided to push it back in favor of a Special Edition, as it really just wasn't interesting enough to earn that spot for me. For a PWG show this had a lot of very long matches. None of them were outwardly bad but only the six-man tag was entertaining enough that I’d recommend you go out of your way to see it. The tag title match and subsequent segment was very confusing but the rest of the show was straight-forward enough. I’m not really into any of the storylines going on outside of some interest in the PWG Championship scene, but hopefully that will change soon.

Make sure to check out The Cool Kids' Table as well as my archive.
