During a recent interview with Vicente Beltrán, WWE Superstar Blake Monroe discussed Mark Henry praising her as a throwback talent, if she wants to compete in the John Cena Classic tournament, and more. Below are some highlights:

Blake Monroe on How She Wrestles Her Opponents

“I mean I’m not sure if you’re familiar with my work but I’m not the best at making friends. however, I look at it for me with wrestling, the beautiful thing is it’s universal. It’s all over the world. Like you said, WWE is coming to Europe, but coming to Spain. And the way that people wrestle in Spain is different to the way that people wrestle in Japan, to the way that people wrestle in America. And when you look at WWE, we have superstars from all over the world. We have superstars that were independent wrestlers. We have superstars that were Olympians or models or volleyball players. And I think the amazing thing is no matter who you’re opposite, you can tell a different story every time because there is nobody like Blake Monroe and there’s nobody like Rhea Ripley or nobody like Tiffany Stratton. And when you link up and you tell that amazing story, it’s going to be different every time.”

On Mark Henry Praising Her as an ‘Old School Throwback Wrestler’

“That means a lot. I mean, I love Mark Henry and I was smiling reading that, which I don’t often smile and it did make me really happy because I do think I’m pretty old school and pretty traditional. You know, I’m a wrestler’s wrestler and if you look at my journey and moving all around the world and getting good at this craft, I think, like I said, Blake Monroe has something that not every woman has. And don’t get me wrong, everybody’s journeys are special, but I’m a wrestler’s wrestler and I think you’re going to see that when I do eventually decide to debut on SmackDown.”

On If She Wants To Compete in the John Cena Classic

“Of course I want to be a part of it. It seems like it’s going to be a huge tournament and obviously you have to headline that with a huge name [clears throat] like the glamour Blake Monroe. In terms of who I want to face, I just escaped the women in NXT. They were haunting me, but we have so many talented girls. I’d love to face Tatum [Paxley] again because we have unfinished business after she put me in a casket. But you have Kendal Grey, you have a ton of new European signings. So, I would love to be a part of it. And if I’m not, I’m going to love watching it because I think it’s going to be really interesting to see how these people collide because everybody comes from different places.”

As noted, Monroe was recently announced as “coming soon” to the show. WWE SmackDown also heads to the Olimpic Arena in Barcelona, Spain on May 29.
