On the latest episode of The Hall of Fame, co-host Brad Gilmore made the case that LA Knight should already have been a world champion. Knight is set to challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Money in the Bank.

Booker T pointed to names like Mr. Perfect, Scott Hall and Roddy Piper, who never held the top title, and said that is just the way the business works. You can check out his comments below:

On Not Everyone Becoming Champion:

“That’s just the way it works. Everybody’s not going to be the champion. Everybody’s not going to have that. That’s why I get caught up in where we are in this world today, where everybody wants a turn. And I get it. I say this with no trepidation, and I don’t say it from a perspective where I don’t truly, truly respect the game and the craft of what this thing has always been about. But I always say, if they paid me a million dollars a year and I won no titles, I wouldn’t give a damn. Because I would have taken that money and I would have invested it, and invested it, and invested it, all over these last 36 years.

“So for me, being the champion has been great. But I never thought I was going to win the World Heavyweight Championship. I never dreamed about winning the World Heavyweight Championship. But I always wanted to be the best wrestler in the locker room, which propelled me to that position. And then it happened for me, and the ball got rolling. But that’s just not something I ever really thought about.”

On Steve Austin Saying All Wrestlers Should Want To Be Champion:

“Him and I, we think a lot alike in a certain way. He may think that way about the title. I thought about being the best in the locker room, and when you’re the best in the locker room, everything else just happens — the money, the titles. I’ve proven it since day one. If you’re good at what you do, the money and the titles come with it. I’ve had a title almost my whole career, no matter what title it was, and I’ve always made really good money. Being the best guy in the locker room propelled both of those things to happen. You can’t deny that. You can’t not see the guy that’s going out and shocking and amazing the crowd, bringing the noise, pandemonium. You can’t look past that stuff.”

On LA Knight:

“Well, I’m not saying LA Knight was Booker T. A lot of people want the title for certain reasons too. So no, man. LA Knight, that’s just one of those things. LA Knight’s a hell of a talent. But just like you just mentioned, all those great names who did not win the World Heavyweight Championship. Hell, I didn’t win the WWE Championship — the lineal one. So I put myself in that same category, even though I won all the other ones.”
