Bruce Prichard has been a major part of WWE for decades, and a new report says that may be largely coming to an end next year. PWInsider reports that Prichard is expected to retire from his position as Executive Director – Creative Writing & Talent following WrestleMania 43.
The report notes that Prichard would remain in the orbit of WWE on a consulting basis, but that he would no longer live ion Stamford, Connecticut where WWE Headquarters is, nor retain his current position and duties. One source said that WrestleMania 43 would be the end of his run, though another noted that there may be, in the report’s words “a little leeway on the timeline.”
Prichard has been part of the company on and off since 1987. He began working there as an announcer before becoming the heel manager Brother Love. When Brother Love’s time on TV came to an end, Prichard remained as a member of the backstage staff and worked with Vince McMahon as one of his top producers and creative team members. He exited the company in 2008 but returned in 2019 to work as part of the creative team. He took time away following WrestleMania 42 for health reasons, returning over the summer.
The report notes that the belief backstage as of now that all three writing teams — Raw, Smackdown, and NXT — are under Prichard’s purview. He of course reports to Chief Creative Officer Triple H.
No word on who may succeed Bruce Prichard in his role.
