– During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, former WCW wrestler Buff Bagwell discussed his recent leg amputation, noting injuries from a car accident several years ago that led to the issue. During the interview, Bagwell revealed he underwent a procedure called a flap surgery after his accident, which removed part of his calf and and attached it to his knee. Bagwell believes the procedure likely worsened his condition. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):
Buff Bagwell suffering from open wounds on his leg that led to his amputation: “When I came out of rehab, I had four open wounds on the leg that had been there for two years. That surgery there caused me to stay drunk for two years. Four open wounds. It wouldn’t close. We couldn’t make sense out of it. I couldn’t do anything with it. I was on walkers and crutches for two years.”
On how he was previously treating the infected wounds on his leg: “The very first medicine they gave us, we realized how bad and wrong we’d been doing it the whole time. I’d been putting Neosporin and a big Band-Aid on it for two years, and it was just the wrong thing to do.”
On behalf of 411, our best wishes to Bagwell during this time.
