Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide producer Chavo Guerrero recently commented on the iconic Mask vs. Mask match between the El Grande Americanos at Noche de Los Grandes.
At Noche de Los Grandes Week One, the OG El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) battled El Grande Americano in a Mask vs. Mask match. The highly acclaimed bout saw the OG get unmasked. The bout has since come in for massive appreciation from both fans and wrestling veterans.
During a recent appearance on the Gabby AF podcast, Chavo, who works as a backstage producer in AAA, said that the match was indeed “magic.” He heaped praise on both Americanos, especially Chad Gable, and claimed that the reason it worked was that it was a perfect combination of WWE and AAA styles of wrestling.
Here’s what Chavo Guerrero said:
“Those two guys were really, really good. Chad Gable is really, really good. I didn’t know a lot about him until we had our first debut AAA show, and he wrestled, I believe, it was Vikingo for the championship. I was like, ‘This guy! He’s so good!’ And then you got El Grande Americano (Kaiser); he’s really, really good as well. Both awesome guys outside the ring and in the ring, they’re very good. So you put that quality together with Mexican fans, that Latin fans, and that kind of WWE-AAA style; it was just magic. When you get that Lucha Libre style mixed with the WWE style, it’s so good. I think that’s my favorite wrestling, period.”
