Chelsea Green Given 30 Days To Get Cleared In Order To Keep Women’s Title On WWE Smackdown

Chelsea Green has 30 days to get medically cleared if she wants to remain WWE Women’s Champion, as announced by Nick Aldis on WWE Smackdown. Friday night’s episode opened with the WWE Smackdown General Manager appearing in the ring and addressing Green’s broken orbital bone that she suffered on last week’s show. He called Green down to the ring and said that WWE medical officials would not clear her to compete and that she had to relinquish the WWE Women’s Championship as a result.

Green countered that she has been through so much in her career, recounting her past setbacks and being the comic relief but never the champion, and how every night she told herself that she knew it would be worth it for the moment she became Women’s Champion. She noted that Aldis should understand this more than anyone, as he had his moment with his wife and kid in the ring at SummerSlam, and that she wouldn’t take the title off until someone took it from her.

Green then did, however, hand Aldis the title and made to leave, but Aldis told her to stop and that he thought he was doing the right thing as GM, but that as a person he doesn’t care what medical says. He then gave Green 30 days to get cleared for action.

That moment was interrupted by Gunther, who came down to the ring complaining about Aldis adding Kevin Owens to the #1 contenders match at SummerSlam. Aldis said that he did Gunther a favor by adding him to the match as well, and that Owens’ return had been negotiated months ago.

Green then spoke up and was told to shut up by Gunther, which led to Green firing back. Matt Cardona came down to back his wife up, and Gunther said he could call Green every slur in the world and he couldn’t do anything about it. Green asked Cardona to leave and left himself, but Cardona attacked Gunther after he continued to mock Green. That led to a match in which Gunther made Cardona tap to the Boston Crab in under four minutes.
