Latest on Rumors That Chris Jericho Will Return to WWE

Chris Jericho returning to WWE continues to be a rumor making the rounds in the wrestling world. Dave Meltzer noted in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Jericho is either going to return to WWE, or he wants people to think he is going to return to WWE. WWE fans did him a favor at WWE Crown Jewel as after John Cena put AJ Styles in the Walls of Jericho, the crowd acknowledged Jericho and started chanting his name.

Meltzer adds that the creative team at WWE still believes that Jericho is set to return to the company, embark on a retirement tour and receive a Hall of Fame induction.

For what it’s worth, Tony Khan said the door is open for Jericho to return to AEW.

The recent news that the next Jericho Cruise, Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea: Seventh Cruise of a Seventh Cruise, taking place from November 7 to 11, 2026, from Miami to the Bahamas, has no announced AEW names fueled speculation that Jericho is set to leave AEW. Jericho sharing a throwback video of his WWE return in 2012 did as well. However, Meltzer noted the last time Jericho went on the cruise, he didn’t announce names from AEW until a few months later, and that the cruise also has no WWE names advertised.

That said, the original cruise came along before AEW existed, when Jericho was in a non-exclusive contract with WWE and was turned down when he went to the company for its talent. Ultimately, The Demo God went ahead with several then-ROH and independent talent like The Young Bucks, Briscoes, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Beer City Bruiser, Scorpio Sky, Marty Scurll, Matt Taven, Dalton Castle, Adam Page, Santana, Ortiz, and Konnan.

So far, the featured names for the next cruise currently include Jeff Hardy, Saraya, and The Great Muta, along with fan favorites like Elayna Black, Shotzi Blackheart & the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase.
