CM Punk Wins Undisputed WWE Title From Sami Zayn On WWE Raw

We have a new Undisputed WWE Champion in CM Punk, who defeated Sami Zayn to win the title on this week’s WWE Raw. The main event of Monday night’s show saw Punk appear as an impromptu opponent for Zayn in the place of Cody Rhodes, who Zayn was scheduled to defend the title against on tonight’s show.

Rhodes won the title shot by defeating Jey Uso on Smackdown. However, at the start of the show, Rhodes was assaulted by an enraged Gunther who felt he had been screwed out of the title at WWE Night of Champions. Rhodes was determined as unable to compete, and Raw GM Adam Pearce ruled that Zayn would still defend the title.

His opponent turned out to by Punk, the hometown hero, who had not been seen since the Raw after WrestleMania 42. He battled Zayn tooth and nail and eventually dodged a Helluva Kick, hit one of his own, and then the Go 2 Sleep to get the victory and the title.

You can see a clips from the match below. Punk is now a three-time WWE Champion, though this is his first since it became the Undisputed WWE Title. Zayn’s run ends at 9 days, having won it at Night of Champions.
