CM Punk Defeats Jey Uso To Become World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

CM Punk is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The Second City Saint overcame a stiff challenge posed by Jey Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event to become a seven-time World Champion.

The finish of the match saw Jey Uso hit Punk with a couple of Superkicks. However, just as Uso tried to back it up with a Spear, The Best in the World countered it with his knees and then hit a couple of GTS to secure the pinfall victory.

The match overall was a back-and-forth affair, with both competitors hitting each other with their finishing moves multiple times. After trading blows initially, Punk hit Jey with a GTS, but the Yeet Man fell out of the ring.

Later, Jey made a comeback, hitting Punk with a Spear and an Uso Splash, but the latter refused to stay down. He went for another GTS, but Jey countered it with a Superkick.

After the action spiraled on the outside, Jey Speared Punk through the barricade and then rolled him back into the ring for another Uso Splash. However, the former AEW star countered it with his knees.

Later, Jey hit Punk with a GTS of his own, only to be at the receiving end of a Spear from The Best in the World. Punk then attempted two more GTS, but Jey responded by locking him in a Sleeper Hold.

Punk countered it with the Anaconda Vice, but the 40-year-old was able to get out of it by reaching the bottom rope.

Punk eventually had the last laugh as two more GTS helped him stand tall with the World Heavyweight Championship in his grasp.
