Cody Rhodes Reveals He Considered Selling His Soul to Ava During Feud With The Rock

Cody Rhodes recently revealed that he considered selling his soul to Simone Johnson, i.e., Ava, during his feud with The Rock last year.
In February 2025, The Rock returned to WWE TV and asked Cody Rhodes to sell his soul to him and become his corporate champion. At Elimination Chamber 2025, The American Nightmare refused the offer and asked The Final Boss to go f*ck himself. As it turned out, John Cena shockingly betrayed Rhodes and joined forces with his former rival, turning heel in the process.
Rhodes hosted Simone Johnson, i.e., Ava, on the latest edition of his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, where he revealed that he wanted to sell his soul to the former NXT General Manager. Here’s how the conversation went:
Rhodes: “When the Final Boss asked me for my soul, I thought, you know what would’ve been funny, is to relent and give my soul, but not to him, and this is at a time when you were the NXT General Manager, to you. I thought, ‘That’s got legs. I’ll never say a word again. She’ll speak.’
Ava: “I think we would have crushed that.”
Rhodes: “We would’ve crushed that. People are often like, ‘You don’t want to be a bad guy.’ I’m open to all things. Whatever is the best. I thought that would’ve been a real good spin.”
Ava: “I would’ve loved to have done that.”
Rhodes: “How would he have felt?”
Ava: “I think he would’ve been all for it. Absolutely!”
Rhodes: “I can’t believe you never told him.”
Ava: “I don’t think it ever came up because I think he was beating you up, asking you for your soul. I don’t think I knew he was coming back that day. I had no context of what the promo would be. I just saw it and was like, ‘Soul is crazy!’”
Rhodes: “I think we might have had something. Who knows, we might still have something. But I thought it was such a fun spin. My soul goes to you, and we would’ve wreaked havoc. Sold out every night. That was our idea. It never happened.”
Ava: “Who knows? Maybe it could still happen. Never say never!”

The Rock has not appeared on WWE TV since last year’s Elimination Chamber PLE. Meanwhile, Ava departed WWE earlier this year.
Elsewhere in the interview, Ava discussed receiving hate from fans after The Rock took Rhodes’ WrestleMania XL spot two years ago. Check his comments HERE.
